Naturally, the relationship between the individual and the physical world is influenced by various factors that are subject to change. In any case, one expects that the experiences humans have in and with the environment are represented in the cultural images of nature that they create. Accordingly, literature functions as a form of artistic expression that conveys attitudes and behaviours towards the natural world.1 The art historian W. J. T. Mitchell argues that landscape can be “a medium of exchange between the human and the natural, the self and the other” while it constitutes at the same time “a natural scene mediated by culture” (Mitchell 5). This means that there is never an experience of nature that is purely sensory or physical; the perception of the landscape is also influenced by the cultural meanings and values that are imprinted on it. These impressions are based on any previous contact with and exposure to nature that is preserved either as","PeriodicalId":178513,"journal":{"name":"Göttinger Schriften zur Englischen Philologie","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122822020","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Le peuple kurde fut assigné à vivre comme des minorités en Turquie, Syrie, Irak et Iran. Dès lors, il a souffert la plupart du temps entre les mains de ces États, en étant persécuté et voyant niés ses droits culturels et humains fondamentaux par des régimes autoritaires qui réprimaient brutalement leurs rebellions périodiques. L’exception, c’est le Gouvernement Régional Kurde en Irak qui bénéficie maintenant d’un statut d’autonomie. Par suite de cette persécution, le PKK – Parti des Travailleurs du Kurdistan – fut créé en 1978 en tant que mouvement armé pour combattre en faveur d’un État kurde séparé avec une idéologie marxiste-léniniste. Sa guerre avec l’État turc a commencé en 1984 et a continué jusqu’à maintenant, à part plusieurs cessez-le-feu du côté kurde. Une telle organisation ne pouvait par aucun moyen se maintenir en Turquie et en conséquence en 1980, sous la direction de son co-fondateur et « guide naturel », Abdullah Öcalan, elle fuit en Syrie. Les militants kurdes vont s’y concentrer, tout en suivant une formation militaire et politique dans la vallée de la Bekaa au Liban. En 1998 la Turquie exige que la Syrie cesse d’héberger le PKK et Hafez Al-Assad obtempère. Le centre de gravité du mouvement va alors se déplacer vers les Monts Qandil situés au nord de l’Irak. Ocalan est arrêté en 1999, jugé à Istanbul et condamné à la prison à vie, à l’isolement forcé. Depuis sa prison Ocalan repensa l’idéologie et les aspirations du PKK. Il arriva à la conclusion qu’il n’était plus question d’être encore marxiste ou de chercher à obtenir un État indépendant. À partir de là, on devait réprouver totalement la notion d’État-nation, Dossier","PeriodicalId":178513,"journal":{"name":"Göttinger Schriften zur Englischen Philologie","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130756821","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
