In order to decrease the morbidity caused by an autologous graft in the alveolar seal, it can be replaced by a resorbable matrix of collagen. The present case report evaluated clinically and histologically a porcine collagen matrix, in soft tissue regeneration, during the installation of an implant immediately after dental extraction. After 6 months, clinically, a tissue with an optimal final aesthetic appearance was obtained and histologically, the formation of an epithelial and connective tissue compatible with that of a normal mucosa was evidenced.","PeriodicalId":177593,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Medicine and Engineering Interdisciplinary Research","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128719157","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Clinical case: Magnetic resonance of the thigh that reports: \"focal alteration within the thickness of the posterior superficial muscular plane, biceps femoris muscle short and long head, visible focal oval lesion, measuring approximately 10.44 cm × 7.3 cm with heterogeneous intensity, shows trabeculae, detritus and high intensity content\". Drainage and biopsy report: malignant mesenchymal tumor. Tumor vascularization and suspected involvement of superficial branches in the deep femoral artery. With the improvement of the Malawer Sugarbaker surgical technique, the posterior septal tumor of the thigh was removed through a supine anteroposterior approach, vascular control, and cross surgical management of pathological anatomy. Adequate oncological resection with surgical result, evolution and satisfactory recovery. Conclusion: For large tumors that may or have been confirmed to have vascular involvement, modifying the classic technique of posterior thigh resection is a feasible and provable alternative method from a practical perspective, as it can better control tumor lesions during surgery. For large volume posterior chamber sarcoma with vascular involvement, it is recommended to adopt multidisciplinary management and utilize existing tools to personalize each clinical case.","PeriodicalId":177593,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Medicine and Engineering Interdisciplinary Research","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123014926","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The literature indicates that the prevalence and the incidence is more higher in patients after the fifth decade of the life with a frequency of 3.4 % of all ovarian malignancies, since most of them correspond to the benign pathologies. The tumor produces symptoms derived from the secretion of the estradiol. The granulosa cell tumor has been described as better prognosis, less aggressive than other ovarian neoplasms and the natural history was longer. Surgery is the main diagnostic, staging and therapeutic approach. The adjuvant chemotherapy is recommended only in the early stages with risk factors or in the advanced stages, as it can improve disease-free and relapse-free survival rates, such as radiation therapy. So far, the most commonly used regimens are bleomycin, etoposide, and cisplatin, with a high reaction rate. Whenever possible, surgical rescue is proposed.","PeriodicalId":177593,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Medicine and Engineering Interdisciplinary Research","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121769028","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Clinical Case: A 22-year-old male patient, with no personal or family history of the disease, was found to have a radiating mass at the left posterior 10th rib arch, with a rounded appearance, low-density areas inside, rounded, and well-defined microspheres at the margin, measuring 4.3 cm × 4.3 cm. The surgery was performed through a left posterolateral thoracotomy, which removed nearly two-thirds of the 10th posterior arch of the left rib and with its costal-vertebral disarticulation. Anatomic and pathological studies reported a histological diagnosis of rib osteoblastoma or giant cell bone tumor. Conclusion: This is uncommon and difficult to predict bone tumor in behavior, as almost all bone tumors contain giant cells. It is a primary bone tumor with benign features that invades the local area in an aggressive manner, with a biphasic component of giant cells and a highly vascularized spindle cell component. It often relapses and has limited metastatic ability. Osteoblastoma or giant cell tumor of the bone is a rare tumor located in the ribs, making it even more unusual. However, its prognosis is good, although it can recur and metastasize.","PeriodicalId":177593,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Medicine and Engineering Interdisciplinary Research","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121478758","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of the study was to compare the measures of nasopalatine canal and its shape by cone beam tomography in dentate patients with respect to edentulous patients in the frontal anterior sector. Materials and methods: A descriptive and comparative study, 150 CT scans of anterosuperior dentate patients and 52 CT scans of anterosuperior edentulous patients were taken from the archive of the Imaging Department. Using the Excel program and its tool \"random\", 30 CT scans of dentate patients were selected as well as the 30 CT scans of edentulous. The anteroposterior distance of the upper third, middle third and lower third of the horizontal nasopalatine canal was measured on the oblique sagittal plane. To determine its height, the axial plane was taken from the level of the upper bifurcation to the palatal opening. The acquisition of images was done through the i-Dixel software of the 3D Accuitomo 170 MORITA, DICOM system. Results: The dentate patients present higher heights in relation to the edentulous patients. In transverse diameter, the size of NPC channel in edentulous patients is larger. The measurements at the lower, middle and upper levels in the cortices of the diameter of the NPC in dentate patients are lower in relation to the edentulous patients. Conclusion: Patients of 40 to 70 years old, male and female, with frontal anterior edentulism presented structural topographic variations that consist of greater width, smaller longitudinal dimension and larger transversal dimension being enlarged canals.","PeriodicalId":177593,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Medicine and Engineering Interdisciplinary Research","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128681651","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The design required the use of computer aided drawing software (Computer Aided Design) CAD and the construction required the use of installed capabilities in mechanical, electropneumatic, electronic, biomedical and automation manufacturing of Don Bosco University (El Salvador) institutes and centers. The adjustment, configuration and programming works were in charge of research professors specialized in these disciplines. The elements used for its construction were available in the Salvadoran market, considering the closure of the borders as a government measure in face of the expansion of the pandemic. After the design, manufacture and commissioning stage, measurements of the conditions of the supplied air were made with the help of professionals dedicated to the maintenance of medical equipment and with the approval of internist doctors. The results achieved are those obtained with paramedical equipment and with first aid equipment, for which it has been foreseen that the equipment can be tested in a subsequent instance with the certified medical union.","PeriodicalId":177593,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Medicine and Engineering Interdisciplinary Research","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129418972","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although it is not new, there are still doubts about its clinical role. Evidence indicates that the coupled plasma filtration adsorption is highly efficient in removing inflammatory molecules in sepsis. So far it has not been shown to reduce mortality, but it is possible to achieve a better hemodynamic benefit over convective therapies. On the other hand, the absorptive component makes it possible to purify larger mediators associated with causes of non-septic acute kidney injury, such as myoglobin, toxins associated with liver failure and others, allowing that coupled plasma filtration adsorption indications to be expanded to various clinical settings with a high inflammatory component, particularly when it is required to manage several organ dysfunctions simultaneously.","PeriodicalId":177593,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Medicine and Engineering Interdisciplinary Research","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123189406","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
