Intraoperative patient positioning is a major determinant in the successful outcome of shoulder arthroscopy procedures. Two positioning methods are commonly described, the lateral decubitus and the beach chair position. Each has its advantages and disadvantages. There is no consensus on the best position. The optimal position should improve visualization, enhance accessibility and minimize complications.
