Statistically Split – Split plot design was used. \u0000The results revealed that grain and straw yields of wheat were increased by irrigating with drip irrigation on the two lines of laterals GR with 4 L/h application rate. Meanwhile, the variety Giza 7 was superior in grain and straw yields compared with the other two varieties. Seasonal amount of water applied for wheat crop was about 2087 m3/fed, as calculated by Penman – Montieth meteorological equation. Moreover, the highest grain yields were 2145, 2120 and 2085 Kg/fed. for Giza 7, Sakha 8 and Giza 69, respectively with the two lines of 4 L/h application rate. Water use efficiency for the three varieties expressed as Kg/m3 of water consumed was increased using (S3 = 4 L/h on 2 lines) treatment and the highest WUE values were 1.20, 1.17 & 1.13 Kg/m3 for Giza 7, Sakha 8 and Giza 69, respectively.","PeriodicalId":162536,"journal":{"name":"American-Eurasian Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Science","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124791172","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The pistachio nuts were packed in plastic multilayer pouches (PS/EVOH/PE) at different conditions (atmosphere, vacuum and oxygen scavenger). Accelerated Shelf Life Testing (ASLT) method was used for evaluation the storage of pistachio at 20, 35 and 50 °C. Samples were analyzed at 4, 8, 12 weeks by using of split-plot design. To follow the oxidation profile, the formation of volatile oxidized products (Hexanal) was determined by GC-MS. Results showed that the formation of hexanal under all conditions was significant (p<0.05) and the oxidative process could be quantitatively controlled by decreasing the oxygen concentration surrounding raw dried pistachio nuts by the using of packaging systems. Pistachio nuts stored in oxygen scavenger system had a lower hexanal amount than both of vacuum and atmospheric systems.","PeriodicalId":162536,"journal":{"name":"American-Eurasian Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Science","volume":"176 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-05-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116387275","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The focus of the study was to evaluate economic analysis of cotton production and financial impact of cotton growers in cotton cultivation. A sample of one hundred cotton growers were randomly selected and directly interviewed for pretested questionnaire. Benefit cost ratio estimated 1.479 which denoted the profitability of cotton cultivation. Econometric model of cotton profit function was examined, price of output and quantity produced of cotton positively affect profit, while cost of production negatively affect profit. It was determined Cropped Area, Land Preparation, Seed, Fertilizer, Pesticides, Irrigation and Labor statically significant and positively affects cotton production. Proper policies are pertinent to input prices and output of cotton mandatory for cotton growers to increase profitability and refining socio-economic status in farming community.","PeriodicalId":162536,"journal":{"name":"American-Eurasian Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Science","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134144169","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
