Its appearance is viewed by government regulatory bodies as the beginning of human individuality in ethical and moral debates. Technological advances in ES/iPS cell biology have made it easy to revert terminally differentiated cells back to this peri-pluripotent/primitive streak state, bringing modern biology to an unchartered territory with equal promises and challenges. In this talk, I will give an embryological overview of the primitive streak and of how it turns pluripotent epiblast cells into mesoderm cells (bones, muscles and blood). I will also present our recent data on generating ectopic primitive streak and creating conjoined twins using animal models. Finally, I will discuss how future technological improvement can maximize social benefits and minimize moral dilemma of breakthroughs in biological research.","PeriodicalId":162460,"journal":{"name":"IEEE/SICE International Symposium on System Integration","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131911372","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper wants to discuss extracts of fresh eel mucus physiological effect on Anguilla japonica. The method of tube feeding is used to feed rat for four weeks, and then their biochemical indicators of liver and kidney function are measured. Moreover, the method of GM(0,N) model in grey system theory is presented, and the liver and kidney function of eel mucus is used as influence factor to evaluate it's the physiological effects. Through the analyzing results, the values of biochemical indicators of liver and kidney function of rat body weight can be achieved, and the results are quite matching with the previous research in soft computer area. Hence, it not only can help researchers understand biochemical effects on rat, but also can provide references for future research.","PeriodicalId":162460,"journal":{"name":"IEEE/SICE International Symposium on System Integration","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115336275","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We established a terminal arrival route optimization model for emission and noise abatement, designed a non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm with an elite strategy, and performed case verification by using actual operation data of the Shanghai terminal area. The calculation results showed that, by using the optimized terminal arrival routes, the emissions of NOX, HC, and CO were reduced by 31.4%, 29.5%, and 30.2%The population affected by noise over 65 dB from terminal arrival routes decreased from 444,200 to 227,000, a decrease of 48.7%. At the same time, the total fuel consumption were decreased by 31.4%. Therefore, the optimization model effectively reduced the impact of terminal aircraft operation on the environment.","PeriodicalId":162460,"journal":{"name":"IEEE/SICE International Symposium on System Integration","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116015501","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The uniqueness that sets apart UAV-based FSO systems from conventional FSO systems is the dynamics of the system since location and inclination of the UAV changes over time due to wind load and UAV oscillations. The envisioned scenario consists of UAVs equipped with laser diodes and a DU mounted on top of a ship. We propose an application scenario of search and rescue (SAR) operations in the High North. In the system design, the SAR team establishes communication with UAVs using radio frequency multiple-access links while DU demodulates the information from the incoming FSO fronthaul signals. Furthermore, statistical models for the FSO channel, random position and orientation fluctuations, snow, and fog have been derived. This work amplifies the need and possibility of enabling enhanced accessibility and connectivity in the Arctic utilizing UAVs and FSO.","PeriodicalId":162460,"journal":{"name":"IEEE/SICE International Symposium on System Integration","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124152125","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
