Therefore, the purpose of our study was to conduct a survey to assess patients attitudes towards the replacement of teeth among those who reported to Manubhai Patel Dental College, Vadodara, Gujarat, India. \u0000Methods: \u0000A cross-sectional survey to determine patients attitudes towards replacement of teeth was conducted. 144 subjects were examined by a clinician (70 males and 74 females). A fourteen item, closed-ended questionnaire in two parts was recorded. This was followed by a clinical examination in which the subject’s chief complaints were recorded and existing/missing teeth were charted. \u0000Result: \u0000When subjects were asked if they were aware whether they could replace their missing teeth, 93% of them responded “yes,” while 7% responded “no.” Out of those who responded “no,” subjects were found to be within different socio-economic classes and reported various reasons for not replacing their missing teeth such as financial reasons, lack of impairment in function, or lack of time. \u0000Conclusion: \u0000In this study, a higher number of patients stated that the artificial teeth were equivalent to natural teeth. Attitudes of patients should be taken into consideration to improve patient compliance with acceptance of the prostheses. An emphasis on awareness should also be considered as most patients did not have the knowledge of the importance of replacing their missing teeth other than for esthetics or mastication purposes, especially in the lower socio-economic classes.

Every discipline of dentistry has been positively affected with the use of laser technology including Oral Medicine, Oral surgery, Pediatric and Operative Dentistry, Periodontics and Oral Implantology, Prosthetic Dentistry. Treatment with lasers provides a hope of overcoming the disadvantages of conventional dental procedures. In this paper, a brief history of the mechanism and uses of the Erbium-doped:Yttrium-Aluminium-Garnet (Er:YAG) laser is presented, which is the most commonly used tool in Periodontics and Oral Implantology.

A cross sectional survey was conducted using a self administered questionnaire. The questionnaire form included three sections eliciting demographic characteristics and assessing parent's knowledge, and beliefs regarding teething of their youngest child. \u0000Result: The majority of the respondents were in the age group of 28 – 37 years of age and had only primary level of education . \u0000Almost about 93% of the mothers knew that the tooth eruption starts around 6 – 7 months of age and the first tooth to erupt is the lower central incisors. About 85 % of the mothers said that the primary tooth eruption gets completed by 2 years of age. Almost 90 % parents attributed fever and diarrhea to teething. Almost 55 % of the parents consulted a doctor for fever and diarrhea. \u0000There is no statistically significant difference between the rural and urban mothers about teething knowledge and its associated symptoms. \u0000 \u0000Conclusion: \u0000This study identified mother’s conceptions about teething signs and symptoms. Health care providers must review and dispel long held cultural myths and beliefs about teething, acknowledge and share the evidence that tooth eruption is not strongly associated with significant symptoms.
