The expressions for bias and mean square error of the proposed class of estimators for P have been obtained. The optimum values of , and have been obtained for the fixed cost and for the specified variance . The proposed class of estimators for P is found to be more efficient than the relevant estimators for fixed sample sizes and also for the optimum values of, and for fixed cost. For the specified variance , the expected cost incurred in the estimation of the proposed estimator is found to be minimum than the expected cost incurred in the relevant estimators.
