{"title":"On Lesson Study","authors":"Li Yi","doi":"10.4324/9781410610867","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.4324/9781410610867","url":null,"abstract":"This study explores the effects of Lesson Study on activating teaching strategies of mathematics teachers in the context of an interschool Professional Learning Community in The Netherlands. In Lesson Study research, effects are mostly reported based on self-reporting. In a case study of three advanced beginners (3 – 6 years of teaching experience), we explored the effectiveness of Lesson Study by using a mixed-method of observations and teacher self-reports by means of interviews and questionnaires. Results indicate that two of three teachers report effects on their teaching. For one of those two teachers the self-reported effects were also observed. The third teacher does not report effects, nor were effects observed. Zhu, 文玉华","doi":"10.7498/aps.54.5362","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.7498/aps.54.5362","url":null,"abstract":"The structural stabilities and electronic structures of Nb atomic chains are studied by employing first-principles plane wave pseudopotential method based on the density functional theory. The calculations show that niobium can form planarchains in linear-, zigzag-, dimer- and ladder-form one-dimensional structures. The most stable one among the studied structures are the zigzag-form linear chain, and all the other structures are metastable.
