It implies a decision-making process about prioritization criteria, and diverges substantially across programs. This process should thus be performed using a rigorous process that considers the various needs of the patients and evaluates them in a valid and reliable manner using prioritization tools carefully designed. In such tools, the prioritization criteria are often not standardized, not evidence-based or only based on individual clinical judgment. There is a need to document the criteria in rehabilitation programs. The aim of our study is to use a group method to obtain a consensus about patient prioritization criteria in two rehabilitation programs. We performed a group consensus-seeking method, Technique for Research of Information by Animation of a Group of Experts aiming to select prioritization criteria, which combines an individual and a group phase. Experts of both programs selected 10 criteria during a group discussion to prioritize patients in their respective programs. A group consensus method could promote a shared decision-making process between stakeholders to develop a prioritization tool in rehabilitation settings.","PeriodicalId":154966,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Healthcare Systems Engineering","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125942520","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Caregiving is challenging, with high workloads and barriers such as fatigue, lack of sleep, and unpredictable episodes of agitation among PWD. Advanced technologies such as cyber-human systems are increasingly considered as means to alleviate some of the stress experienced by caregivers of PWD. To ensure user-centered design of cyber-human systems, it is important to conceptualize the sociotechnical challenges using a cybersociophysical framework and problem space within the context of dementia caregiving, especially as it relates PWD agitation, a major contributor to psychosocial stress. An interdisciplinary collaboration was implemented to use a scaled world, and behavioral and computational simulation as a beginning step to conceptualize the cybersociophysical systems space and the complex interplay between physical space, environmental factors, and the dyad of study (caregiver + PWD). In this research, a simulation study was conducted to test a structural equation model (SEM) that demonstrated the influence of behavioral and environmental factors as well as caregiver disempowerment on agitation propensity. The outcomes of the SEM presented the possibility of developing interventions using simulated data and provided information to deploy a more effective approach in actual residential dwellings. Recommendations for future studies are to obtain frequent caregiver observations, apply a means to prioritize the most important environmental factors, and combine both psychometric measures and behavioral measures to identify antecedents to agitation.","PeriodicalId":154966,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Healthcare Systems Engineering","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125969210","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It remains a major public health problem in areas where unattended obstructed labor is common. Methods: An institutional based cross sectional study design was used from February 1 to March 30-2016 to assess obstetric fistula and its associated factors among women. Convenient sampling technique was used for total sample size. Data was collected using structured interviewed questionnaire by 3 trained data collectors. Descriptive statistics was computed to summarize the data. Result: The total of 62 women was admitted to JUSTH gynecology ward from Feb-Apr 2013. Out of the total respondent 90.32% were developed Vesicovaginal fistula, 22.25% were developed Rectovaginal fistula and 3.2% were developed Recto-vesicovaginal fistula. Majority of the respondents were from the rural area and 50% were in age group 20-24. 66.12% of the respondents had no regular antenatal care follow-up. Among the respondents 87.09% were primiparous. About 56.45% of the cases were caused by obstructed labor and 22.58% were caused prolonged labor. Conclusion: Generally, prevention is better than cure. Preventing and managing fistula will contribute to achieving improving maternal and child health.","PeriodicalId":154966,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Healthcare Systems Engineering","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115885272","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
