In defeating the mighty a r m i e s of the grea tes t and most ruthless empi re on the face of the earth, the I r i sh were the f i r s t people to have the courage and the stamina to follow through on the promise of the American Revolution against the s a m e imperial oppressors: a Revolution that had been the f i r s t successful war of national liberation in modern history. The I r i sh Revolution was the second such successful war. F o r other w a r s of national liberation prompted by the American Revolution (e. g. Belgium, the Netherlands.
