In VANET charging and billing of services could not be enabled in the same way as in 3GPP networks and MANET (Mobile Ad Hoc Network) because of the characteristics of such network namely the high speed of nodes, frequent disconnection between nodes, rapidly changing topology and the large size of the network. The purpose of this work is to propose a flexible high level charging and billing scheme to allow a high availability of the charging and billing process in VANET.","PeriodicalId":130740,"journal":{"name":"EAI Endorsed Transactions on Ubiquitous Environments","volume":"08 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127206568","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is composed of a number of nanoscale devices and is envisioned to apply to many potential applications. Clock synchronization is essential to establish a distributed cooperation among the nano-devices. This paper investigates the clock synchronization issue for the molecular communication system in the presence of Gaussian distributed propagation delay. A two-way message exchange mechanism is proposed. The closed-form expressions of maximum likelihood estimators for the clock offset and the clock skew are derived. Simulation results further demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed estimators. This work lays a foundation for the complex cooperation of nanomachines in the nanonetworks.","PeriodicalId":130740,"journal":{"name":"EAI Endorsed Transactions on Ubiquitous Environments","volume":"212 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-05-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133549878","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work is dedicated to profiling-based identification of performance problems for specific moments of program execution. By combining conventional profiling with monitoring of user actions (e.g. mouse and keyboard inputs), a more fine-grained analysis of program behavior is possible. The calculation of coverage levels for GUI tests will also be available. The current state of this work describes a proposed solution. Realization of a prototype implementing the approach is currently ongoing.","PeriodicalId":130740,"journal":{"name":"EAI Endorsed Transactions on Ubiquitous Environments","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-01-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134620023","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the previous paper, the authors proposed the concept of tractable effective bandwidth (tEBW). It is the effective bandwidths (EBWs) of one type and can carry out the end-to-end evaluation into a single node evaluation at the bottleneck node. Though almost all of the known traffic flow models have tEBWs, but fBms don't. In this paper we discuss the end-to-end evaluation under mixed traffic flows with tEBWs and fBm variances to include fBms. We show that, by suitably evaluating the input traffics (both forwarding traffic and the cross traffics), the end-to-end evaluation can be reduced into a single node evaluation, and obtain a simple asymptotic evaluation formula. The formula depends on the evaluation of the input traffics, but it is independent of the number of nodes as the case for tEBWs only.","PeriodicalId":130740,"journal":{"name":"EAI Endorsed Transactions on Ubiquitous Environments","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-01-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121489925","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The GPU Module is a heavily-parameterized model of the GPU hardware that takes as input a sequence of abstracted instructions that the user provides as a representation of the application or can also be read in from the GPU intermediate representation PTX format. These instructions are then executed in a discrete event simulation framework of the entire computing infrastructure that can include multi-GPU and also multi-node components as typically found in high performance computing applications. Our GPU Module aims at a trade-off between the cycle-accuracy of GPU simulators and the fast execution times of analytical models. This trade-off is achieved by simulating at cycle level only a portion of the computations and using this partial runtime to analytically predict the total execution of the modeled application. We present GPU models that we validate against three different benchmark applications that cover the range from bandwidth- to cycle-limited. Our runtime predictions are within an error of 20%. We then predict performance of a next-generation GPU (Nvidia’s Pascal) for the same benchmark applications.","PeriodicalId":130740,"journal":{"name":"EAI Endorsed Transactions on Ubiquitous Environments","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-01-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127391792","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A number of network measurement projects have developed measurement platforms to not only assess the state of individual networks and services but target certain aspects of the Internet as a whole. \u0000 \u0000Measuring any aspect of the Internet is challenging for various reasons such as the sheer scale of the Internet or the dynamics of it. Building and operating a platform that has Internet-wide network measurements as a goal is therefore challenging. In this paper, GLIMPSE-an end user-based network measurement platform-is introduced and its architecture is described in detail. GLIMPSE is an attempt to build a measurement platform based on standard measurement techniques, external logic to trigger measurements and last but not least community support.","PeriodicalId":130740,"journal":{"name":"EAI Endorsed Transactions on Ubiquitous Environments","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-01-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132837476","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While many results of DNC have been carried over to its stochastic extension, the problem of WFC systems has not been solved so far. This paper presents the first approach to analyse WFC in the context of Stochastic Network Calculus (SNC) for a general service inside the feedback loop of the controller. The key idea is to keep track of how much the service deviates from being subadditive. The new method is illustrated in numerical examples and its properties are discussed.","PeriodicalId":130740,"journal":{"name":"EAI Endorsed Transactions on Ubiquitous Environments","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-01-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121931698","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To overcome the scarcity and difficulties in capturing mobility data, models have been devised. In general, each model replicates some of the observed metrics, while neglecting others. However, all tend to ignore diversity, in the roles and goals of the users but also in the devices that are used to access the WiFi network. This paper presents the mobility traces from the access records of 49000 devices to the eduroam WiFi network of IPL for 7 years. Traces are made publicly available in the expectation that its large scale permits to support evaluations base on real mobility data, thus removing the uncertainty that emerges from the use of synthetic mobility models. Traces emphasise differences between device types, with impact on aspects like observed trace duration, speed, pause times, ICTs and availability, which can hardly be replicated on synthetic mobility models.
