This, for example, leads to the application of a sparse array for an increased angular resolution and an enhanced multiple-input multiple-output switching scheme for an increased maximum Doppler velocity. In this paper, an investigation is performed in order to determine the dimension where undersampling is most effective. As the measurement dimensions are linked, two different reconstruction approaches of the subsampled data are presented and evaluated. Measurements validate the effective reconstruction of the subsampled data.","PeriodicalId":124280,"journal":{"name":"2019 16th European Radar Conference (EuRAD)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114772019","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is achieved by using a single radar sensor in combination with an active repeater element that is operated as a displaced virtual sensor. Coherency between sensor and repeater tag is only obtained by signal processing; on a hardware level both operate incoherently. This setup provides the necessary multi-perspective view on the target at low effort and large freedom of placement. The results of simulations and measurements in the 77 GHz band with one radar sensor and two repeater elements are presented to validate the theory.","PeriodicalId":124280,"journal":{"name":"2019 16th European Radar Conference (EuRAD)","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130543365","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We demonstrate a concept, that is based on the exploitation of typical wireless communication transmissions to perform passive, distributed radar sensing. Our concept is based on an OFDM radar that operates in the modulation symbol domain and can be well integrated into existing OFDM receivers. The measurement setup and the signal processing steps for the OFDM radar are described. The results show, that the passive, distributed radar sensing approach can be used to detect moving cars and even pedestrians in automotive intersection scenarios.","PeriodicalId":124280,"journal":{"name":"2019 16th European Radar Conference (EuRAD)","volume":"5 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120995692","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Each unit cell represents a passive receiver-transmitter structure with integrated switched-loop couplers which can take either of two coding states corresponding to 0° or 180° phase shift imparted to the signal transmitting through the device. The unit cell design supports two orthogonal linear polarizations. The unit cells were fabricated in commercial 5-layer printed circuit board process. An example of a 10x10 element 1-bit beam-steering transmitarray operated in C-band is demonstrated by simulations and measurements. The proposed structure represents a cost-efficient solution for scalable, reconfigurable and conformal transmitarrays, as well as for proof-of-concept experiments in research and education.","PeriodicalId":124280,"journal":{"name":"2019 16th European Radar Conference (EuRAD)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128687905","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
