{"title":"Translanguaging Approach in English Classroom: Sentiment Analysis of Multilingual Indian Teachers' Perspective","authors":"R. Ali, Michael Raj","doi":"10.56314/edulec.v3i2.148","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.56314/edulec.v3i2.148","url":null,"abstract":"Recent developments in India, the National Education Policy 2020, promote using the home language or mother tongue as the medium of instruction until Grade 5 and beyond. This paper explores the attitudes of multilingual teachers in India toward using translanguaging in English language teaching. Forty-five samples were collected, and the researcher measured thirteen translanguaging parameters to assess the attitudes of multilingual teachers. Using the VADER method, the researcher converted the translanguaging corpus and identified positive, negative, neutral, and compound sentiment scores. The results showed that most respondents had a neutral sentiment toward translanguaging. The researcher used a heat map to visualize the data, producing four clusters labeled Positive, Neutral, Negative, and Compound Sentiments of translanguaging. One such technology is the computer-aided learning media. The use of computer media in the field of education has many advantages as they are easier to access, disseminate and store. The aim of present study is to investigate the impact of computer assisted language learning (CALL) technology on Indonesian learners' reading skills. This study applied quantitative research. The results of study found that the use of information technology in learning is marked by the interaction between students and materials through internet technology, the existence of programmed teaching, and flexibility in the process for learning both in terms of time and place. Kebudayaan adalah ciri khas manusia, karena dengan adanya budaya maka kita dapat membedakan antara manusia yang satu dengan manusia yang lain. Ritual Mutu Maten merupakan suatu ritual dalam budaya masyarakat Malaka umumnya dan masyarakat desa Sikun khususnya. Mutu Maten lebih bersifat pada perpisahan antara orang yang meninggal dengan orang yang masih hidup. Nilai merupakan suatu jenis keyakinan yang terletak pada pusat dan sistem keyakinan diri seseorang atau sekelompok orang tentang bagaimana seseorang atau sekelompok orang tersebut sepatutnya atau tidak sepatutnya dalam melakukan sesuatu. Dalam ritual Mutu Maten terdapat beberapa tahapan yang harus dilakukan. Tehapan-tehapan tersebut antara lain: tahap pembuka, tahap pelaksanaan, tahap inti dan tahap penutup. This research uses analysis descriptive qualitative method. The object and data source of this research is the poem I wandered lonely as a cloud and the solitary reaper by William Wordsworth which is taken from the website http: // poet.org> poems> william wordsworth which was published in 1815 and 1803 by using the solso theory. The results of study show that the poem I wandered lonely as a cloud consists of 4 stanzas and 24 lines, while in the solitary reaper poetry consists of 4 stanzas and 32 lines. There are three imagery contained in the first and second poetry, namely visual imagery, auditory imagery and kinesthetic imagery. This study used mix method namely quantitative and qualitative. There were 215 students in the population. Then, there were 20 students and 1 teacher of of SMAN 1 Selayar as sample of study. Taking of sample was carried out by cluster random sampling. The instruments used observation, questionnaires and interview quides. The results of this study showed that some strategies used by teacher in overcoming students’ speaking problems at SMA Negeri 1 Selayar namely Role Play, Number Head Together, Discussion and Grouping. While, there were 13 (65%) students who said nothing in English as one of students’ speaking problem. Then, students thought to speak English as 9 (45%) students. The worry statement in making mistake to speak English was 8 (40%) students. Students felt nervous in speaking English as 11(55%) students. Students who were not confident were 7 (35%) students. It can be concluded that there are two dominant students’ speaking problem, namely students think nothing in speaking English and be nervous in speaking English. While, the dominant strategy is Role Play. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif dengan jenis penelitian kualitatif. Adapun jumlah informan 14 orang dengan rincian anggota masyarakat yang memiliki rumah 20-39 tahun 3 orang dan yang baru memiliki rumah 1-13 tahun 3 orang, tokoh adat 1 orang, ketua pemuda 2 orang, Tokoh Agama 1 orang dan Kepala Tukang bangunan 4 orang. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi, Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan.
