This study will discuss flood distribution through tidal flood susceptibility mapping and identify adaptations. The first step is to carry out flood susceptibility mapping using DEMNAS data and sea tides. The second stage is to determine the key areas based on the tidal flood susceptibility map made. Key areas are useful for identifying forms of community adaptation to tidal floods through data collection in the form of observations and interviews. The mapping results show that the flood susceptibility area reaches 582.89 Ha or around 50% of the area of North Semarang District. The key areas with high susceptibility are settlements on Jalan Tambakrejo, Tanjungmas Village and it is known that the community responds by adapting patterns to changes in physical infrastructure, economic activity, and social development.","PeriodicalId":91705,"journal":{"name":"International journal of environmental and science education : IJESE","volume":"13 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82239305","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Samples were collected and preserved based on standard methods. The heavy metals of interest were Mercury (Hg), Arsenic (As), Cadmium (Cd), Chromium (Cr) and Copper (Cu) due to their levels of toxicities and presence in water bodies while the five study stations were Worokuma (W), Uwanga (W), Tuweni (T), Shellikiri (S), Inarakiri (I) and Esenfakiri (E). The solar thermos elemental flame atomic absorption spectrometer (AAS), model SE-71096 made in Germany with detection limit of 0.001 mg·kg−1 was used for the heavy metal analysis. The trend of heavy metal abundance was found in this order Cr>Cu>Cd>Pb>Hg=As. All the detectable metals had risk index of greater than 5 but the highest was found in the order, Cd> Pb > Cu > Cr (149, 35, 26 and 12 respectively) which meant extremely high level of pollution. This also indicated the probability of non-carcinogenic effects occurring and increases as HI increases signifying carcinogenic risk via direct ingestion of water. Graphs were used to show trends in both mean heavy metal concentrations and risk assessment indices. Chromium and Pb had moderate contaminations for CF and CDI values, hence regular monitoring of the Santa Barbara River is of essence as most of the inhabitants take this as the only source of potable water as their wells have very high iron content.","PeriodicalId":91705,"journal":{"name":"International journal of environmental and science education : IJESE","volume":"92 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135846964","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study examined the perception of students of senior secondary government schools on teaching and learning of green skills in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The senior secondary government schools where vocational courses under the National Skills Qualifications Framework have been introduced were selected for the study. Data was obtained from a sample of 80 students of class XII who had chosen vocational courses at the secondary level from four selected senior secondary government schools using a self-developed Likert type questionnaire. Mean and standard deviation of the responses were calculated to analyse the data. Students being the only respondents Friedman Test was calculated to find out the pattern of the distribution of the data. The results revealed that the distribution is the same for teaching and learning of green skills. However, there were varied responses with low mean and high standard deviation from students about their knowledge of the concept of green skills, even though the majority of students followed green practices which were being taught to them in vocational courses.","PeriodicalId":91705,"journal":{"name":"International journal of environmental and science education : IJESE","volume":"195 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76642787","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, Indonesia is ranked 4th in producing plastic straw waste. This problem needs to be taken seriously because the waste generated through plastic straws is difficult to recycle. One effort that can be done is to replace plastic straws with edible straws. Red dragon fruit peel contains nutrients such as carbohydrates, fat, protein, and dietary fiber but is often only thrown away and considered as waste. This study aims to utilize dragon fruit peel as a basic material for making edible straws and to analyze the characteristics of edible straws. The study used quantitative experimental methods by testing temperature resistance and water absorption. The results showed that edible straw has good temperature resistance at a temperature of 10℃-20℃, where at that temperature there is an increase in mass of about 2-3 grams. As for water absorption, a good temperature range is 20℃-80℃ where absorption occurs between 0.38%-7.46%.","PeriodicalId":91705,"journal":{"name":"International journal of environmental and science education : IJESE","volume":"23 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78945523","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
