By dissecting the speech's language and narrative strategies, this research elucidates how masculinities and femininities are enacted, subverted, and reinforced within the nationalist discourse. The analysis reveals that Bangabandhu’s rhetoric not only galvanized a collective struggle for liberation but also intricately wove gender identities into the fabric of the nationalist movement. This dual focus provides critical insights into the speech's role in shaping societal norms and gender relations, offering practical implications for contemporary political rhetoric and advocacy for gender inclusivity.","PeriodicalId":517597,"journal":{"name":"Social Science and Humanities Journal","volume":"116 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141835415","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A quantitative approach was employed through a survey distributed to 351 employees across various locations. The findings revealed a youthful workforce with near-equal gender distribution and a high proportion holding college degrees. A slight majority reported being single, potentially indicating a preference for flexibility. Furthermore, the largest group had a tenure of 1-5 years, suggesting a sizeable cohort of newer employees.\u0000Employee engagement was perceived to be high indicating a generally motivated and enthusiastic workforce. A significant positive correlation was identified between engagement and job performance, suggesting that more engaged employees perceived themselves as performing at a higher level. Based on these results, the study proposes actionable recommendations to enhance engagement. These include targeted strategies for the younger demographic, skill development programs for all employees, exploration of flexible work arrangements and well-being initiatives, and fostering a culture of recognition and alignment with the company's mission. By implementing these strategies, the dealership can cultivate a more engaged workforce, leverage its diverse strengths, and achieve sustained high performance.","PeriodicalId":517597,"journal":{"name":"Social Science and Humanities Journal","volume":"112 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141835505","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The data collected on the first objective are explained in this section. Financial constraints were found to hinder citizens' ability and willingness to access resource allocation information, limiting their capacity to travel to county offices, access the internet, or purchase materials containing the relevant information. Despite this, respondents agreed to a great extent that the county government is transparent about how funds are spent in different sectors (mean = 3.7597, std. deviation = 0.69095), that the process for county resource allocation is clearly communicated to citizens (mean = 3.5581, std. deviation = 0.83128), and that information about how resources are allocated is easily accessible to the public (mean = 3.5116, std. deviation = 0.91101). The study’s third objective was to assess whether openness and transparency of the county's contracting and procurement practices influence economic development in Thika Town Sub-County in Kiambu County, Kenya. The findings were as follows. Concerning openness and transparency of county contracting and procurement practices, 63% of respondents indicated that information about county contracts and procurements is private, while 22% said it is available, and 15% were unsure. The majority of respondents (61%) indicated that the county's contracting and procurement processes are somewhat transparent, while 24% said they are very transparent, and 15% said they are not transparent at all. Even when information on county contracts and procurements is available, it may not be easily accessible due to bureaucratic hurdles, outdated or incomplete online resources, and the need for personal visits to county offices. Despite these challenges, respondents greatly agreed that the procurement and tendering process is open and transparent (mean = 3.7907, std. deviation = 0.78735), that increased transparency in contracting/procurement has benefited local businesses (mean = 3.7054, std. deviation = 0.80314), and that award criteria and selection methods are clearly defined and available (mean = 3.6419, std. deviation = 0.93763). The study concludes that while efforts exist to promote transparency in resource allocation, there are still gaps in the adequacy and accessibility of information. Financial constraints can be a barrier to citizens' engagement with government processes and access to information, potentially hindering their ability to hold the government accountable and contribute to economic development. The study concludes that addressing financial barriers and improving the accessibility and comprehensibility of resource allocation information could enhance citizens' participation and, consequently, economic development. The major findings of this study demonstrate that Dong Zhongshu's people-oriented philosophy focuses on the relationship between heaven and man, reflecting deep compassion and righteousness notion. The virtue of the king and the relationship between the monarch and the people are critical in the political practice of governing a country. Dong Zhongshu inherited pre-Qin Confucianism's people-oriented perspective, built the philosophy of heaven and man for demonstration, and expanded the thought of benevolence and righteousness as the core, bringing the thought to an unprecedented height and depth. This study requires in-depth research in terms of research methodology and social governance practices. Conscious of the outcomes of infancy care on the productive efficiency of individuals at adulthood, the reproductive life of women and child welfare became an area of European domination during colonialism. Using British Southern/West Cameroon(s) as the theatre, this paper sets out to uncover colonial motives in the transformation of reproductive practices among women as it examines the different strategies and mechanisms employed in extending maternity and infant welfare as a measure of colonial imperialism. Archival information and oral interviews made up primary sources while books, published articles and dissertations constituted the secondary sources. The descriptive historical approach was employed in the analysis of the work. This paper submits that: the British colonial administration in Southern Cameroons had a mask colonial exploitative economic agenda behind the assignment put forth by the League of Nations Mandate Commission in its Article II of the British Mandate agreement. A baseless racial discrimination and cultural domination motivated the transformation of the reproductive life of indigenous women and the extension of basic infant welfare services during the Mandate and trusteeship periods in Southern Cameroons. These services were mostly provided by Western Mission agencies and plantation firms who recognized the independence of Southern Cameroons but withheld the rights to medical autonomy. In some cases, the transfer of rights to manage the medical arm of the different agencies was partially transferred during the last years of the Cameroon federation and in some cases after the abrogation of the Cameroon federation. The British decision to administer Southern Cameroons as a mandate was a conspiracy to enforce the tentacles of colonialism and its diverse arms with hope of greater economic and cultural gains.","PeriodicalId":517597,"journal":{"name":"Social Science and Humanities Journal","volume":" 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141672213","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study conducted a stylo-pragmatic investigation of linguistic characteristics in the debut work of Nadia Hashimi, The Pearl that Broke Its Shell. The primary objective of this research is to focus on the pragmatic analysis of the chosen speech acts in various contexts, in addition to exploring the stylistic techniques utilized in those specific texts. Pragmatics elucidates that the utilization of language in unconventional manners is deemed permissible, on the condition that language users possess an understanding of their actions. Linguistic stylistics delves into the linguistic characteristics of a given text, focusing predominantly on the utilization of language and its impact on said text. Hence this paper investigates the selected contexts in the mentioned novel by Hashimi where the texts are analyzed pragmatically besides the stylistics investigation. It seeks to understand the factors that influence the adoption of Moodle use based on the users' own experiences. The research was conducted using a mixed methods approach that included both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods. The survey collected data from 22 Yemeni faculty members enrolled in the English Department at the University of Science and Technology who use Moodle activities. The instrument was online. The results showed that the level of using Moodle as a learning tool and the perception of using LMS in general were moderate. Moodle activities have a positive impact on Yemeni teachers' learning EFL by improving their language skills and increasing their motivation to learn. In addition, the use of Moodle activities promotes collaborative learning and provides opportunities for self-directed learning. No statistically significant differences were found at the 0.05 level in students' use of Moodle as a learning tool and their perceptions of LMS use, differentiated by gender, computer ownership, and monthly allowance. Moodle can be an effective tool for EFL teaching and learning in Yemen, where access to traditional face-to-face instruction is limited. As hypothesised, there was a positive relationship between Moodle use as a learning tool and perception of LMS use at the 0.01 level. Students using Moodle expressed more positive perceptions of LMS use than students with low use.","PeriodicalId":517597,"journal":{"name":"Social Science and Humanities Journal","volume":"86 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141682853","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A correlational research design was employed, and three hypotheses were tested. The study initially recruited 370 teachers, evenly distributed between genders, but ultimately 333 participants completed the study. Data collection involved the use of a validated questionnaire, with reliability indices of 0.91 for the Passion for Teaching Rating Scale and 0.85 for the Teaching Effectiveness Rating Scale. The data were analyzed using Pearson's product moment correlation coefficient and regression statistics, with a significance level set at 0.05. The findings of the study revealed a significant relationship between passion for teaching and teaching effectiveness among secondary school teachers. However, no moderating effects of gender or teaching experience on this relationship were observed. Based on these results, it is recommended that teacher education programs and professional development initiatives place importance on fostering and developing passion for teaching. By emphasizing the cultivation of passion for teaching, these programs can contribute to enhancing teaching effectiveness and ultimately improving the educational experiences and outcomes of students.","PeriodicalId":517597,"journal":{"name":"Social Science and Humanities Journal","volume":" 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141681122","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
