The aim is to reduce the computation burden of the original GLCM computation. The proposed computation will be based on Haar wavelet transform. Haar wavelet transform is chosen because the resulting wavelet bands are strongly correlated with the orientation elements in the GLCM computation. The second reason is because the total pixel entries for Haar wavelet transform is always minimum. Thus, the GLCM computation burden can be reduced. The proposed computation is tested with the classification performance of the Brodatz texture images. Although the aim is to achieve at least similar performance with the original GLCM computation, the proposed computation gives a slightly better performance compare to the original GLCM computation.","PeriodicalId":433577,"journal":{"name":"Computer Graphics, Imaging and Visualisation (CGIV 2007)","volume":"114 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132464988","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed approach uses an observation model based on optical flow information used to know the displacement of the objects present in the scene. After finding the moving regions in the initial frame, we are applying active contour model (ACM) to track the moving objects in the further frames dynamically. These models have been used as a natural means of incorporating flow information into the tracking. The formulation of the active contour model by incorporating an additional force driven optical flow field improves the tracking speed. This algorithm efficiently works to track for low contrast videos like aerial videos.","PeriodicalId":433577,"journal":{"name":"Computer Graphics, Imaging and Visualisation (CGIV 2007)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130791708","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While many of these routines are focused on hierarchical clustering, little has been done toward an effective visualization of such data. Due to the richness of information observed in 3D in comparison with 2D (because of its abundant visual cues), we have proposed an intuitive 3D metaphor for the visualization of hierarchical clustered results. Our metaphor is based on fractal trees which are usually constructed by linear recursive algorithms traversing node-link hierarchies. The search results of different hierarchical clustering algorithms shall be visualized as either single-tree or forest metaphors which are user's customizable alternatives in our implemented prototype. In the forest depiction, our approach is even applicable to flat clustered results.","PeriodicalId":433577,"journal":{"name":"Computer Graphics, Imaging and Visualisation (CGIV 2007)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130806032","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the descriptive category, the emphasis is on the interpretability of the resulting classifier. The classifier is usually represented by a set of short fuzzy rules (i.e., with a few number of antecedent conditions) that make it a suitable tool for knowledge representation. In the accurate category, the generalization ability of the classifier is the main target in the design process and no attempt is made to use understandable fuzzy rules in constructing the rule base. In this paper, we propose a simple and efficient method to construct an accurate fuzzy classification system. We use rule-weight as a simple mechanism to tune the classifier and propose a new method of rule-weight specification for this purpose. Through computer simulations on some data sets from UCI repository, we show that the proposed scheme achieves better prediction accuracy compared with other fuzzy and non- fuzzy rule-based classification systems proposed in the past.","PeriodicalId":433577,"journal":{"name":"Computer Graphics, Imaging and Visualisation (CGIV 2007)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131232832","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There have been many attempts to overcome this limitation by modifications to the barrier top edge. These generally take the form of an absorbent top or the introduction of additional diffracting edges. However, relatively minor variations in geometry have sometimes been found to result in drastic changes to barrier performance. In this paper the Boundary Element Method is employed to calculate the sound field in the vicinity of complex barrier tops and sound field visualization techniques are used with these data to investigate how the sound field varies with frequency and dimensional changes. It is shown that for some top edge configurations local resonance effects have a significant effect on the attenuation afforded by the barrier.","PeriodicalId":433577,"journal":{"name":"Computer Graphics, Imaging and Visualisation (CGIV 2007)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127074117","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, current interfaces for electronic catalogs do not adequately support the multi-criteria searching, browsing, and comparison tasks typical of consumer \"bargain hunting\" behavior. This paper presents the design and implementation of a visual interface for a large electronic catalog that represents products as a collection of images in a compact, zoomable, multidimensional grid. At the overview level, the spatial dimensions represent the price and quality tradeoffs that typically guide buying behavior. As a user zooms into regions of interest, the spatial dimensions are overloaded to represent additional decision criteria, such as product category and ratings. An empirical evaluation found that users preferred this new visual interface to a traditional tabular interface on measures of confidence, usability, and satisfaction, especially for multi-criteria comparison tasks.","PeriodicalId":433577,"journal":{"name":"Computer Graphics, Imaging and Visualisation (CGIV 2007)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127450078","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It includes two novel document skew detection algorithms based on histogram statistics and connected component analysis. The histogram based algorithm works much efficient for detecting skew angle in which we analyze the lines as peaks and valleys on histogram. The connected component analysis is based on finding the connected components within a single line and considers them as one blob to estimate skew angle. The two methods have been experimented on various text documents and very promising results have been achieved given more than 99% accuracy. A comparative study has been reported to provide a detailed analysis of the proposed methods.","PeriodicalId":433577,"journal":{"name":"Computer Graphics, Imaging and Visualisation (CGIV 2007)","volume":"90 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129802069","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The transition curves discussed are S-shape and C-shape of G2 contact, between two separated circles. A spiral is a curve of monotone increasing or monotone decreasing curvature of one sign. Thus, a spiral cannot have an inflection point or curvature extreme. The family of quartic Bezier spiral form which is introduced has more degrees of freedom and will give a better approximation. It is proved that the methods of constructing transition curves can be simplified by the transformation process and the ratio of two radii has no restriction, which extends the application area, and it gives a family of transition curves that allow more flexible curve designs.","PeriodicalId":433577,"journal":{"name":"Computer Graphics, Imaging and Visualisation (CGIV 2007)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127555587","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this respect, one can systematically assesses digital retinal photographs, to predict chronic diseases. This eliminates the need for manual assessment of ophthalmic images in diagnostic practices. It is also possible to detect certain type of cancers and cataract in their early stages in addition to diseases like hypertension, stroke and serious organ malfunctioning in diabetic patients. The facility to maintain a database of the retinal photographs and associated data of any patient, taken on a regular basis, scrutinized for the prediction of the diseases may easily be incorporated.","PeriodicalId":433577,"journal":{"name":"Computer Graphics, Imaging and Visualisation (CGIV 2007)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121698180","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
