Lean production is expected to create an industrial ecosystem that is more cost-efficient and accountable for optimizing resources and processes. However, in the context of lean manufacturing, new challenges have emerged as a result of the recent emphasis on sustainability. This study aims to show several criticisms of lean implementation and propose a holistic approach to achieve a more sustainable operation. The green-lean model, sustainable manufacturing, agile supply, and Lean 4.0, are approaches for integrating lean practices and sustainability. This will foster a culture of continuous improvement, employee empowerment, long-term collaboration with suppliers, added value for customers, and increased innovation in the economy.","PeriodicalId":433532,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Economics, Business and Accounting","volume":"27 5","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134991790","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

 Study Design: The design of this study is a convergent parallel design.
 Place and Duration of Study: The study was carried out at the Kiota hub, Tatua hub, and Rlabs in the Iringa region, between November 2022 and September 2023.
 Methodology: Data, both quantitative and qualitative, were collected from 90 respondents (87 youth entrepreneurs, 3 hub managers), utilizing closed-ended questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. Quantitative data underwent descriptive and inferential analyses whereas qualitative data were analyzed thematically.
 Results: All 90 respondents participated successfully, hence a response rate of 100%. The correlation coefficient and P-values for the role of entrepreneurship training, funding, co-working space and entrepreneurship competition are (.703, P=.000), (.738, P=.000), (.511, P=.000) and (.698, P=.000) respectively, confirming their statistical significances towards the engagement of the youth in entrepreneurship. Also, thematic analysis results indicate that entrepreneurship training transforms mindsets and equips youths with entrepreneurial skills, funding is crucial for covering the startup costs, co-working spaces foster a co-creation culture and networking, and entrepreneurship competitions are natural motivators towards the youth's engagement in entrepreneurship.
 Conclusion: Entrepreneurship training, funding, co-working space, and entrepreneurship competition play significant roles towards the youth's engagement in entrepreneurship. The findings of this research offer valuable insights for innovation spaces to work on the factors that truly contribute towards youths’ entrepreneurship engagement; educational institutions to design learning models that inspire the application of knowledge and establish innovation spaces to promote youth entrepreneurship; and the government to review policies that hinder the engagement of the youth in entrepreneurship.","PeriodicalId":433532,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Economics, Business and Accounting","volume":"25 10","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135042664","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper was extracted from the Doctoral dissertation of the first author where the co-authors served as supervisors. Buffer capital theory and efficiency structure theory were utilized. Causal research design was used and a census of forty-one commercial banks was undertaken focusing on the period 2013 to 2019. The panel regression analysis revealed that out of the CAMEL rating variables, only earnings ability had significant effect on financial stability of commercial banks in Kenya. It was recommended that the Central Bank of Kenya motivates earnings (profitability) targets to be in accordance with the size (category) of banks. This is as the earnings ability of commercial banks vary from bank to bank. This will in turn facilitate the improvements and sustenance of financial stability by commercial banks. The study recommends that bank managers when setting earnings target should consider their capabilities as a bank by ensuring realistic targets. Higher earnings translate to higher financial stability according to the study findings, hence apart from the traditional intermediation activities, other profitable business ventures can be explored by commercial banks.","PeriodicalId":433532,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Economics, Business and Accounting","volume":"20 11","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135043264","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The findings obtained through the ARDL approach to cointegration indicate that real income, consumer price index, and interest rate are cointegrated with real money demand. In terms of the estimated results derived from the long-run model, it is observed that real income has a statistically significant positive impact on real money demand, while the general price level and interest rate have a negative impact. The short-run dynamic model, known as the error correction model, demonstrates that all explanatory variables collectively account for the growth rate of real money balances. In the short-run, the growth rate of real income exhibits a positive relationship with the demand for real money, whereas the inflation rate and changes in interest rate have a significant negative effect on the demand for real money balances. The estimated slope coefficient of the short-run dynamic model, which measures the speed of adjustment, is projected to be 60.67%. This outcome suggests that the real money balance model takes no more than two quarters to adjust towards long-run equilibrium in response to short-run dynamic shocks. Stability tests, such as the CUSUM and CUSUMSQ tests, indicate that the real money demand function in Cambodia remains stable in the long-term. The findings derived from this study provide empirical evidence in favor of the quantity theory of money.","PeriodicalId":433532,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Economics, Business and Accounting","volume":" 6","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135242551","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In Kenya, SEZs benefit from business-enabling policies and sector-appropriate on-site and off-site infrastructure and utilities. For the last 20 years, the Government of Kenya has been investing on Special Economic Zones as one among the innovative strategies geared towards enhancing competitiveness of Foreign Direct Investment firms in the manufacturing sector. While it is noteworthy that SEZs have somehow contributed to the increase in the inflow of FDIs in the manufacturing sector in Kenya, it is equally important to point out that such improvement is not commensurate with the size of Kenya’s economy as well as the level of investment put in by the Government. In fact, in a more worrying trend, a good number of FDIs have ceased their manufacturing operations in the country to retain only the marketing and distribution functions of their businesses, a decision that has cut thousands of jobs. These FDIs have shifted focus to offshore manufacturing. Therefore, this paper is the product of the study carried out to establish the influence of SEZs on the competitiveness of FDI manufacturing firms in Kenya. Specifically, the study focused on the influence of; technology spillovers, labour availability, market accessibility and level of export, on competitiveness of FDI manufacturing firms in Kenya. A cross-sectional research design was used in the study. The unit of analysis was the management staff of 66 manufacturing FDIs who were members of Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) in the Nairobi Metropolitan while the unit of observation comprised; human resource manager 1, finance manager 1, marketing manager 1, production manager 1 and CEO/GM/owner 1. Multistage sampling method was used in the study. Multistage Sampling is the probability sampling technique wherein the sampling is carried out in several stages such that the sample size gets reduced at each stage. At the initial stage, the study applied Yamane formula to determine the number of firms in each of the 9 categories for the study. From the selected firms, 5 members of management (1CEO and 4 Managers) were selected using purposive sampling technique. Lastly, Yamane formula was used to arrive at the final sample size. This resulted to a total population of 325 and a sample size of 283. Primary data was collected through a semi-structured questionnaire while secondary data involved analysis of statistical abstracts from published materials and reports. Data analysis was carried using the statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) software version 25 as well as descriptive and inferential statistics.
