However, for the high noise and low contrast degree of infrared images produced by monitoring process, how to remove the noise of images effectively has become the key point of recent research. In this paper, we propose a new insulator infrared image denoising method using significant coefficient rule. In order to incorporate the spatial dependencies into the denoising procedure, HMT model is explored and EM algorithm is proposed to estimate model parameters. The experimental results show that, compared with the existing insulator infrared image denoising methods, the proposed method is not only propitious to keep image edge from damaging and solve the edge blurring problem, but also increasing PSNR of images. In addition, the proposed method also gets a better visual effect.","PeriodicalId":430882,"journal":{"name":"2008 Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131396497","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system is composed of 3 functional units, namely main-class and subclass classification, continuum spectra normalization, luminosity type determination. This work's main novelties are 2 folds: 1) A stratified approach is proposed for classification. The main-class and subclass of star is firstly determined, and then according to the main-class type, luminosity type is recognized through luminosity type determination unit. The luminosity type determination unit is composed by seven models based on PLS method each corresponding one of the seven mainclass type. 2) We use the non-parameter regression method to robustly determine the main-class and subclass, and PLS regression method to determine the luminosity type. Experiments show that our system is feasible for the low-resolution spectra classification.","PeriodicalId":430882,"journal":{"name":"2008 Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124357851","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Tokyo University of Information Sciences (TUIS) has updated the MODIS receiving system to capture and ingest the Visible/Infrared Imager/Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) data from the satellite of NPP, which will be launched in 2008. Data processing software from the Direct Readout Laboratory (DRL), such as the Real-time Software Telemetry Processing (RT-STPS), Simulcast, and DB algorithms, will be core programs in our system. The configuration of the hardware and software for higher level MODIS data processing are introduced in this paper. A data ingest, process and publish system is constructed for MODIS based on the software mentioned above; it can process and publish the data in near real time and proved to work well by our test. By this configuration, the VIIRS data in the NPP stage can also be ingested and processed; also, it will have the ability to publish the VIIRS data in near real time.","PeriodicalId":430882,"journal":{"name":"2008 Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"221 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124375475","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To meet the demand for both geometric and engineering fidelity of the reduction, a fuzzy-clustering-based reduction method is presented. As an effective extension to the existing pure geometric reduction methods, a hybrid heuristic is introduced. It includes descriptions of samples’ fuzzy imperative attributes and fuzzy geometric attributes. Reduced points favor to gather at regions of high curvature and surface boundaries. Detailed features, which are particularly valuable for machining, can be well preserved. The method works directly on the point cloud, requiring no intermediate tessellation. The algorithm is experimented on different models and show reasonable results.","PeriodicalId":430882,"journal":{"name":"2008 Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"82 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114501907","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First, the visual and near infrared spectral data were analyzed by principal components analysis (PCA) for space clustering. The principal components (PCs) containing the main information of original spectra were picked out as the inputs of BP-ANN with three layers. The accumulative credibility of the first three PCs reaches 94.37%. The 3-D scores plot shows good space clustering of the samples. In the test, total 195 samples were examined, in which 150 samples were selected randomly for model-building and other 45 for model-prediction. With the prediction rate over 91%, the results indicate that the new hybrid model combing PCA with BP-ANN is reliable and practicable so that it could serve as an approach for machine recognition of various fragrant mushrooms.","PeriodicalId":430882,"journal":{"name":"2008 Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114897472","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Firstly a time-space smoothing matrix is constructed by temporal and spatial data of two uniform parallel linear arrays, and then 3-D parameters of coherent signals can be obtained from its eigenvalues and the corresponding eigenvectors. In colored Gaussian noise, the algorithm can precisely estimate 3-D parameters of coherent signals, and doesn't need multidimensional spectrum peak search with 3-D parameters paired automatically. In addition, it can still estimate correctly 3-D parameters of signals when signals have the same one or two dimensional parameters. Computer simulation confirms its effectiveness.","PeriodicalId":430882,"journal":{"name":"2008 Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"191 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120865983","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, most of the simplification algorithms proposed focus on static meshes, and very little works are to deal with deforming surfaces. In this paper, we propose a novel method for generating progressive multiresolution models of deforming surfaces base on shape feature analysis. By the method we first use the curvature and torsion to analysis the shape feature of the original model, then use the famous QEM method as our basic edge contraction metric to generate a base hierarchy. The sequence of the simplified models is generated progressively from frame to frame. Based on the edge collapse sequence in the previous frame, edge contraction order is adjusted according to the deformation degree in the current frame. We demonstrate that our method works efficiently and can generate better approximations with well-preserved features than previous methods.","PeriodicalId":430882,"journal":{"name":"2008 Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122062802","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The shape from shading problem aims to reconstruct a 3D shape from one or more intensity images. Inspection of solder joint is a critical step in the assembly of PCB (Printed Circuit Board). So, non-destructive inspection technology has been widely used in a production of PCB. In automated optical inspection (AOI) field 2D inspection appears to be more prevalent industry-wide than 3D inspection, but the limit of 2D inspection in some defects is apparent. This paper deals with the reconstruction of the solder joint’s surface in PCB based on shape form shading technology. The advantages of SFS method are analyzed firstly. Then, theory and survey of SFS method is introduced. To overcome the disadvantages existing in conventional SFS methods, some improved algorithms are provided and proved by experiments. Experimental results reveal that the proposed method shows practical value in solder joint inspection.","PeriodicalId":430882,"journal":{"name":"2008 Congress on Image and Signal Processing","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122068071","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
