Basing on the ethnographic material collected in 2017–2020 and data from various sources, the author analyzes the current state of widespread phallic symbols, primarily in the folk environment, as well as behavioral norms, habits, customs associated with the phallus, many of which date back to the oldest, mainly ancient Greek phallic cults, which got a rebirth in the depths of the folk carnival culture of the Middle Ages. The wide prevalence of phallic themes and connotations in verbal language (exclamations, invectives, subcultural vocabulary, for example, gastronomic), in non-verbal means of communication (facial expressions, kinesics), iconography, artifacts, traditions, in everyday life is analyzed. The author comes to the conclusion that one can talk about the presence of a kind of phallicism in Sicily – an extremely important and widespread set of ideas, rituals and customs in local society, which flourishes despite the ethical norms of Catholicism. The bodily, corporeal representations and practices of Sicily, and primarily in the popular environment, are marked by the spirit of phallocentricity (Jacques Derrida’s term), patriarchy and gender dominance of men, and the phallus as a “sex sign” is surrounded by priority attention here","PeriodicalId":105268,"journal":{"name":"Studia Religiosa Rossica: Russian Journal of Religion","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115775302","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On the one hand, the authors demonstrate the obvious presence of Dilthey’s vision of Schleiermacher’s philosophy of religion in Frank. On the other hand, they note original moments in Frank’s understanding of “Speeches on Religion”. The consideration results in an obviousness of the constitutive role of Dilthey’s work in Frank’s interpretation of Schleiermacher. Essentially, the latter’s article presented to the Russian philosophical public not one, but two outstanding German thinkers: not only Schleiermacher, but also Dilthey. At the same time, this analysis performed suggests that the study of works by Dilthey, while translating and comprehending the works by Schleiermacher , enabled Franck to better appreciate the “selected affinity” between the thought of the German historian and his own emerging philosophical intentions. In that way, Dilthey became for Frank both a guide to the world of German and European spiritual culture in general, and a highly significant philosophical “interlocutor” who influenced not only directly – through the reception of certain specific ideas, such as the concept of “experience” or the distinction between “understanding” and “explanation”, but also through the interpretation of the heritage of such outstanding German thinkers as Hegel or Goethe, a description of the dynamics of European philosophical and theological ideas and, above all, the philosophy of religion and philosophical theology of Schleiermacher.","PeriodicalId":105268,"journal":{"name":"Studia Religiosa Rossica: Russian Journal of Religion","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117160889","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The object of the study is four large and active virtual groups dedicated to anti-cult themes. The research objectives are to identify the main characteristics of “sect” in the discourse of the anti-cult movement; to establish the specifics of the construction of the “sectarian” image in the anticult movement through the prism of modern media and to offer an analysis of the activities of the virtual groups’ participants. The study found that anticult communities are platforms for polemics between followers and opponents of the anti-cult movement. They reproduce and offer their participants to complement and develop a negative image of a “sectarian”. At the same time, judging by the materials of the communities, the anti-cult movement largely limits its activities to the space of the Network and, with a few exceptions, does not conduct any actions outside of it.","PeriodicalId":105268,"journal":{"name":"Studia Religiosa Rossica: Russian Journal of Religion","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129364973","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is shown that Protestantism not only used the old social forms, but also created new ones that formed the basis of a new type of Western society – civil society. An overview of already existing social forms is given: agricultural communes, representative assemblies and professional corporations, parties, schools and universities, church communities. The agricultural commune became the lot of closed groups that created their own mini-society. Noble and city assemblies, professional associations including informal associations of clergy (contubernias), parties became a platform for Lutherans and Calvinists. Protestant schools performed not only an educational but also a missionary function, universities were used to train pastors and preachers and to form a Protestant intellectual elite. The Protestant church community gave rise to such social forms as small home groups, colleges, commissions and committees. Educational and discussion clubs were actively used by Calvinists during the Dutch and English revolutions. The social creativity of the Protestants was intended to strengthen Protestantism in society and to promote the creation of a “new human” brought up in the Protestant doctrine.","PeriodicalId":105268,"journal":{"name":"Studia Religiosa Rossica: Russian Journal of Religion","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132835529","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It describes the concept of female attractiveness in the last shogunate era in Japan and describes cosmetic procedures in the context of the concept about the body beauty. The author focuses on individual parts of the body and their transformation: teeth, nails, hair, feet, etc. The article provides examples of such transformations as blackening teeth o-haguro, staining nails and whitening the face with a special composition of o-shiroi. It also describes the rituals common in the pleasure quarters of the Edo period, in which some parts of the body are involved: swearing an oath of love and fidelity by chopping off a finger, gifting nails and locks of hair, etc. The author analyzes popular images that visitors to the Yoshiwara were inspired by during the Edo period.","PeriodicalId":105268,"journal":{"name":"Studia Religiosa Rossica: Russian Journal of Religion","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130939219","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
