To accomplish this, the study surveyed the students of the School of Technology Management and Logistics (STML), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Sintok, Kedah. The majority of the students believe their study costs are higher than expected. This caused financial strain due to price increases globally and affected STML students and living expenses in university and impacted students' academic and health performance. Thus, this study aims to analyse the perception of part-time jobs' impact on student academic and health performance. The researcher focused on quantitative approaches throughout the study. Around 132 students answered the online questionnaire. The study found that there are both positive and negative impacts on student working and studying on their academic and health performance. All of the hypotheses have been confirmed and accepted. The study suggests that how well time is managed between work and study will determine whether the impact is positive or negative. Part-time jobs can be a new way for students to increase their income if the time can be managed well.","PeriodicalId":482845,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Modern Trends in Social Sciences","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135109832","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The DPN reflects Malaysia's desire to be able to defend its strategic interests and maintain national security. During Mahathir's era, the defense policy was inclined towards self-reliance and changed its pattern i.e. upward, where before his administration it was in the form of dependency and neutrality and had a horizontal pattern. In the international arena, Tun's voice resonated to voice the aspirations of Third World countries and the commitment shown above other leaders. Self-reliance under Tun Mahathir's administration made aspects of Malaysia's defense policy more modern so that Tun Mahathir became a reference and attention throughout the world, especially Third World Countries. The three main factors that influenced Malaysia's defense policy during the era of Tun Mahathir Mohamad 1981-2003 that will be discussed, namely internal factors (internal factors), external factors (external factors) and Tun Mahathir Mohamad's idiosyncratic factors which made the aspects of Malaysia's security and defense policy more modern and 'gah' on the international stage.","PeriodicalId":482845,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Modern Trends in Social Sciences","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135109831","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This phenomenon is increasing in Malaysia as youngsters prefer to purchase things online rather than purchase them in-store. This study is conducted to examine the level of online shopping preference and investigate the relationship between security, saving time, and payment methods with online shopping preference among UUM students. This study used a quantitative approach with 200 students from UUM. The data was collected by using Google Forms with a five-point Likert Scale. Other than that, this study uses Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) in analyzing the data by conducting Reliability Test, Validity Test, Descriptive Statistics Analysis, Spearman Correlation Analysis, and Regression Analysis. Based on the findings, the security level of online shopping platforms has a positive and significant impact on online shopping preferences among UUM students.","PeriodicalId":482845,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Modern Trends in Social Sciences","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135109696","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Campuses were closed suddenly as a social distancing tactic to avoid community transmission; therefore, in-person classes have transitioned to online learning. Because of this, there has been a change in attention to the use of online learning tools and platforms for effective student participation, which may be too expensive or unavailable for some students. Understanding how online education can affect a student's emotional well-being and social life is crucial. Consequently, the purpose of this research is to explore how the effects of COVID-19 on students' mental health and social life are connected to their schooling. The studies focus on three areas that could affect students' emotional and social well-being: classroom procedures, counselling, and evaluation strategies. These students' emotional and social well-being is the primary focus of this investigation, and the researchers hope to identify not only the elements that have the most bearing on these outcomes but also the relationships between independent and non-independent variables. One hundred fifty undergraduates in their last year from the School of Technology Management & Logistics (STML) at the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) filled out a questionnaire to provide us with this information. The analysis was performed using SPSS, a statistical package. It appears from the results that instructional approaches, guidance, and assessment methods all have an effect on the dependent variable (mental health as well as the social life of students).","PeriodicalId":482845,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Modern Trends in Social Sciences","volume":"184 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135109697","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is an Entry Point Project 1 (EPP1) under the National Key Economic Area (NKEA) of oil palm commodities. The schemes provided farmers with high-quality seedlings, agricultural inputs such as fertilizers and chemicals, as well as a cash fund for the preparation of land and planting of the seedlings. The farmers who participated in the scheme were also given advisory services on various aspects of the management of oil palm by the extension officers of MPOB (TUNAS). A total of 400 participants were involved and responded to the survey, with the proportion of respondents from Peninsular, Sabah, and Sarawak. The study found that the average age of the participants is mostly above 59 years old (37.3%) and 44.3% of the participants were owners of oil palm farms. The main objectives of the study were to determine the current yields achieved by the participants in the scheme and their compliance with the GAP guidelines. This is a quantitative study, which applied the questionnaire approach in gathering data. It was found that 61.0% of farmers categorized as medium yield of FFB production who produced 21.5 - 28.9 ton/ha/year with average income received RM1500 - RM3000 per month, while 32.5% of farmers produced in a lower category (< 21 ton/ha/year), and there were 6.5% farmers produced more than 29 ton/ha/year that was considered as the higher yield of FFB production. This study also showed that most of the respondents complied with Good Agriculture Practice (GAP) after joining the scheme. Participants responded well to the services given by the TUNAS officers. Most of the participants were satisfied with the implementation of the schemes and services provided by TUNAS officers. As a recommendation, several improvements were suggested, such as agriculture input distribution, clustering of the farmers into cooperatives, and continuity of GAP implementation.","PeriodicalId":482845,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Modern Trends in Social Sciences","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135950648","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
