This goal is usually translated into the problem of finding the optimum control strategy that will produce the desired end-product. Today's fermentation controllers rely mostly on environmental state variables which only provide information on the general behavior of the culture. To achieve optimum performance an on-line supervision of growth is essential. Image processing is widely employed in the laboratory for cell analysis and provides a single cell analysis. The morphological appearance of a microbial cell provides information regarding its health and implications on its metabolic status.","PeriodicalId":377538,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Complex, Intelligent and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"106 8","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114023294","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has been estimated that more than 90% of B-cell epitopes are in a conformational structure, and therefore predic-tion of CEs becomes an important task for practical applications. The proposed system is the first tool that adopts three-dimensional mathematical morphology to define protein structural surface regions. Based on the surface information, spatial distance relationship and antigenic characteristics of amino acids are considered as key features for CEs candidate identification. In this paper, thirty three antigen-antibody complexes with verified CEs were adopted to evaluate prediction accuracy, and the performance was compared with PEPOP. To observe the influence of chemical property scales and surface ratios, a complete evaluation by various parameter settings were performed as well. It was discovered that the sensitivity was improved by selecting hydrophilicity rather than hydrophobicity features, while the specificity favored using hydrophobicity instead of hydrophilicity feature in general. The prediction results of the proposed systemachieves an overall accuracy of 75% and its performance is comparable to existing tools.","PeriodicalId":377538,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Complex, Intelligent and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122679451","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Dematerialization, which is among the main activities of e-Government, is devoted to optimize information communication, in terms of consumed time and resources, as well as processing documents. In this work we propose a new model for multimedia document, suitable for e-Government activities, and an information system able to integrate and process different multimedia data type (as images, text, graphic objects, audio, video, composite multimedia, etc.) providing facilities for indexing, storage, retrieval, control of multimedia data, together with long term preservation strategies.","PeriodicalId":377538,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Complex, Intelligent and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126690251","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are a variety of demands to utilize such stream data for applications. Stream processing systems can continuously process stream data according to user requests. In conventional frameworks,the user must explicitly specify information sources in advance, and the user cannot change information sources during query processing. However, there are many cases in which target information sources the user is most interested in change over time. We therefore need an additional framework to deal with changes of the target information sources in the same query. We propose dynamic source selection.Our proposal consists of two functions: The first is a new operator to switch information sources dynamically. The second is connection management to reduce connections to unnecessary information sources. We have implemented the proposed framework in a stream processing system and have evaluated the efficiency of our proposed method in stream data simulator.","PeriodicalId":377538,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Complex, Intelligent and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129205876","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Particularly, many species of gram-negative bacteria are pathogenic and cause a wide variety of diseases in humans and animals. It is crucial in drug design to cure diseases brought by gram-negative bacteria. Unfortunately, a new drug discovery can be expensive and time-consuming even with the advance of biotechnology. Designing a highly effective and efficient computational system, especially for identifying protein subcellular localization for gram-negative bacteria, is an important research field.In this paper, we propose a new computational system which combines a well-known classifier, support vector machines (SVMs), a protein descriptor, DP-PSSM (Directional Property-PSSM), and an optimal tool for system tuning. In addition, an evolutionary computation based feature selection technique is applied to further improve the performance of our computational system. Our computational system, EF-SVM-PSL, had been tested through 10 fold cross validation on predicting subcellular localizations of three gram-negative bacteria protein datasets, PS1444, NR828, and EV243. Our EF-SVM-PSL has a relative simple architecture and performs competitively with the best alternative systems.","PeriodicalId":377538,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Complex, Intelligent and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"62 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116258378","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although the phenome analysis is useful for an elucidation of relationship between genotype and phenotype, it is difficult to identify a complicated biochemical reaction system between genotype and phenotype. In this study, we proposed a novel mathematical model for the time-variant morphogenesis of leaf primordiums to infer the complicated system, and discussed an availability of the proposed model on the elucidation of the morphogenesis. The mathematical model was designed by integrating a reaction-diffusion equation with a cellular automaton theory. The proposed model could realize several well-known complicated pattern formations involving reconnection phenomena of the leaf venation such as Arabidopsis thaliana's and gingko's leaf. Thus, the proposed model is available for the elucidation of the leaf morphogenesis.","PeriodicalId":377538,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Complex, Intelligent and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127413046","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes a compression method, MAILComp, designed for electric mail transfer protocols such as SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol), POP (Post Office Protocol), and IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) over TLS.  From network experiments, compression ratios and file transfer times for four kinds of E-mail were observed, with simulated bandwidth restrictions to represent four typical communication media.  The results show that MAILComp will provide an effective secure compression method whose overhead is virtually identical to that of the original compression method for TLS.","PeriodicalId":377538,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Complex, Intelligent and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127590687","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These domains include different military entities,such as various allies armies, forces of the same army, mobile objects, for example tanks, vehicles, soldiers, flying vehicles, etc., that need to communicate quickly and will minimum of overhead, in order to accomplish their missions. We propose Heterogeneous Multi Domain (HMD) architecture and protocols that support intercommunications among various network domains in the battlefield. HMD protocol uses a network of gateways as an hierarchical virtual infrastructure to interconnect battlefield network domains. Gateways are responsible fortranslation among different communication protocols, including routing, signalling, and security.HMD is scalable, flexible and adaptive to QoS needs for interdomain battlefield communications.","PeriodicalId":377538,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Complex, Intelligent and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126875086","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sorbello","doi":"10.1109/CISIS.2009.117","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/CISIS.2009.117","url":null,"abstract":"In this paper a new approach, based on iris micro-characteristics, has been used to make possible an embedded biometric extractor. This recognition approach is based on ophthalmologic studies that have proven the existence of different micro-characteristics as well as fingerprint minutiae. These micro-characteristics are permanent and immutable and they can be used to create strong and robust identification systems.Biometric recognition systems are critical components of our everyday lives. Since such electronic products evolve to software intensive systems, where software, becoming larger, more complex and prevalent, introduces many problems in the development phases. The development of embedded devices is one of the possible solutions to make possible reactive systems in the complex  field  of software intensive systems.The embedded micro-characteristics extractor proposed in this paper represents the first step to make available an embedded iris-based recognizer. The system has been prototyped on the Celoxica RC203E board, using hardware with programmable FPGA technologies and is able to perform iris processing and micro-characteristics extraction. The goodness of the proposed approach has been tested using an iris image from the CASIA database. The considered iris micro-characteristics are nucleus and collarette and the execution time to extract them is about of 1.1 seconds.","PeriodicalId":377538,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Complex, Intelligent and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126589171","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Gorawski, Aleksander Chrószcz","doi":"10.1109/CISIS.2009.36","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/CISIS.2009.36","url":null,"abstract":"The system StreamAPAS and its declarative query language allows users to define temporal data analysis. This paper addresses the problem of lack of the continuous language standard. The proposed language syntax indicates how hierarchical data structures simplify working with spatial data and groups of tuple attributes. The query language is also based on object-oriented programming concepts as a result of which continuous processing applications are easier to develop and maintain. In addition, we discuss the problem of a query logic representation. In contrast to relations stored in DBMS, data streams are temporal so that DSMS should be aware of their dynamic characteristics.Streams characteristics can be described using variables such as tuple rates and invariables like monotonicity. In StreamAPAS, a query is represented as a directed acyclic graph (DAG), whose operators define tuple data transmission model and have information of result stream monotonicity associated with them. Even though this representation is still static,this approach enables us to detect optimization points which are crucial from a stream processing viewpoint.","PeriodicalId":377538,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Complex, Intelligent and Software Intensive Systems","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121806870","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
