Solo dining experiencescape is framed by culinary tourists and food neophobia of Instagram users. The narrative approach was employed to explore an Instagram post on Brooklyn ramen shop by BuzzFeed’s Tasty in relation to food-related personality traits and perceived territoriality. The collaborative branding of culinary tourism experiencescape denotes the use of Instagram. Introverted Instagram users were found to be co-creators, but food-related personality traits did not exclusively construct their visit plan. As the perceived territoriality and social distancing were found to augment foodstragramming of solo dining in this study, the visit plan of solo dining in culinary tourism was not solely perceived by introverted people. The use of the narrative approach in this study provided unique and valuable insights to these theoretical perspectives that may be overlooked by other analyses or approaches.","PeriodicalId":37887,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Food System Dynamics","volume":"12 1","pages":"83-94"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43992400","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study attempts to foresee whether Blockchain will play an important role in traceability management and how this innovation is expected to change the agri-food sector's future, using a Delphi group discussion with experts. According to our results, blockchain is potentially recognised as a decentralised system able not only to harmonise safety and quality standards but also to reduce bureaucracy. Greater efficiency and reliability of the system would lead to the establishment and coordination of new supply chain relationships.","PeriodicalId":37887,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Food System Dynamics","volume":"12 1","pages":"6-18"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46423986","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although traceability is considered to be an effective tool in supporting quality control, the adoption of different traceability systems along the supply chain can bring the drawback of information asymmetry, which affects inventory management. This paper explores adoption alternatives that may facilitate the blend of traceability technologies in the food industry of developing countries. The analysis is based on a simulation model that represents the behaviour of inventory and food quality in the case of the mango supply chain in Colombia. The results show the asymmetries between traceability systems along the supply chain as well as their effects on inventory and food quality.","PeriodicalId":37887,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Food System Dynamics","volume":"12 1","pages":"37-50"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45551226","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Consumers are more demanding, some countries have increased restrictive policies and retail has changed dramatically. The impact is everywhere. The purpose of this position paper is to summarize what we believe may happen in a short term period at the level of agribusiness. We will establish seven critical areas of change that may occur at this juncture considering both the Argentine and global situation. These areas are: a) the role of consumers, b) economy and business management, c) digitalization and connectivity, d) workforce changes, e) regenerative business models, f) behavior, g) protectionism and government intervention. Every topic is presented in a systemic view, taking into account the situation both in developed and underdeveloped countries. This approach implies the definition of a series of situations at a group and individual level that —sooner or later and at a greater or lesser level of occurrence— will allow us to make better decisions at work, personally and as a society. Covid-19 took into consideration the processes associated with globalization and de-globalization. The irruption of a new information and knowledge society reveals demands for transformations and challenges for organizations with a special connotation on people and their interaction with society. In this context, organizations must respond with actions that allow them to be sustainable over time. Studying these changes enables the identification of possible nstitutional, organizational, and technological adaptations for agri-food companies, policymakers, NGO’s managers, etc.","PeriodicalId":37887,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Food System Dynamics","volume":"12 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41614310","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study develops a dynamic simulation model of salt supply chains to analyze the significant factors affecting prices from upstream to Indonesia's downstream levels. A set of dynamic simulation models is developed to achieve competitive prices using system dynamics. Furthermore, the system dynamics framework is utilized because it can model non-linear behavior between variables with a significant contribution to the system. Based on the simulation results, local and imported salt prices may compete by implementing land integration systems. This system is likely to reduce production costs and increase farmers' revenues to IDR 61,211,892 at the end of the simulation in 2035.","PeriodicalId":37887,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Food System Dynamics","volume":"12 1","pages":"51-67"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46615124","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, it attempts to explain the existence of conflicting information presented by scientific versus government sources in the food pyramid. We start by examining the theory of the politicization of science and regulatory capture. We then examine federal nutrition advice through this theoretical framework. The paper concludes that the negative consequences of federal intervention for everyday Americans call for an alternative approach of decentralization, with an emphasis on private regulators, with government ticking to its core functions, rather than engaging in politicized favoritism.","PeriodicalId":37887,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Food System Dynamics","volume":"11 1","pages":"413-424"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44984901","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study evaluates the economic, environmental, and social impact of the Indonesian halal beef supply chain. The economic indicator shows that cattle farmers incurred the highest costs, but earn a lower profit than the beef retailers. Cattle farmers produce higher carbon emissions and use more freshwater than other actors. However, cattle farmers contributed most significantly to hiring employees along the Indonesian halal beef supply chain. These indicate a gap between actors that impact the fragile sustainability of the supply chain.","PeriodicalId":37887,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Food System Dynamics","volume":"11 1","pages":"468-481"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43511058","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The components (health, quality, product origin and many others) that are involved in the concept of food traceability were examined and the most important ones were identified. An online survey (n=511 consumers) was carried out in Milan in the north of Italy. Students and employees from the Bocconi University were selected in order to investigate the relevance of food traceability in consumer purchasing decisions. An ordered logit regression was applied. The findings confirm that consumers are interested in various components of food traceability and look for labels that provide information on the product supply chain. The research confirms that traceability is important in the food market and some types of labels on product features (as product sustainability or origin) are associated with it.","PeriodicalId":37887,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Food System Dynamics","volume":"11 1","pages":"425-440"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46286973","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study we explore key drivers for value creation in the Spanish organic olive supply chain taken as representative case study. A business model survey was conducted with the participation of a highly qualified panel of experts to provide innovative options for value generation in the organic olive oil industry. Elicited expert judgements relate to the identification of the potential sources of adding value along the supply chain as a whole and among its different actors, as well as the factors that influence positively and negatively the adding-value formation. Findings contribute new ideas and pathways to develop innovative, effective and sustainable business models capable to generate value for companies, customers and the society as a whole. Results can be readily applied in real-world case studies to improve existing company business models.","PeriodicalId":37887,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Food System Dynamics","volume":"11 1","pages":"503-521"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48314343","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First, it introduces a new index (called Consy) for measuring the sophistication of traded goods looking at the importers’ side. The index is defined and then its sophistication content is assessed based on a simple regression model. Second, an empirical exercise is carried out focused on agri-food imports for a set of 46 selected items. This empirical analysis brings evidences on the kind of outcome provided by the index, but it also sheds light on recent trends in agri-food trade where demand of food imports in emerging countries is enlarging and it is more quality-oriented. Results can help stakeholders in better defining and implementing their exporting strategies, especially orienting business towards promising markets and enhancing the quality features for their exports to be delivered to more demanding consumers. Policymakers and sector analysts may also be interested in acknowledging how agri-food international trade is re-shaping in recent years in order to be able to govern the related processes. The Consy values of agrifood products indicate that rich countries are major world importers. Furthermore, the Consy ranking shows that higher value-added and more complex items are imported mainly by richer countries. The time trend of the Consy index is also studied and results show that, in the studied period, the was an increase of import shares of food items for final consumption of higher quality from poorer countries.","PeriodicalId":37887,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Food System Dynamics","volume":"11 1","pages":"451-467"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43356073","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
