Acromegaly is usually caused by the non-cancerous (benign) tumour and middle-aged people are mostly affected by it. Patients with acromegaly have pain in the joints, physical deformities, deepening of voice, bulging chest, protruding lower jaw, large feet and hands, oily skin, vision disorder or erectile dysfunction (impotence). Acromegaly occurs after the fusion of growth plates while gigantism occurs before the fusion of growth plates. The prevalence of WRMSDs, though studied extensively in various sectors, has been understudied in health sector, especially among doctors. This study which evaluated the prevalence and risk factors of these disorders among fifty cancer treating Radiation Oncologist at a Tertiary Care Cancer Centre in India had exposed out an alarming 68% prevalence of these disorders in the study population, with neck pain being the commonest site of these Muscloskeletal Disorders (MSDs). Several factors which could impact the development of MSDs were analysed. This higher incidence of MSDs is presumed to be because of extreme physical and mental stress of working in a high volume cancer care centre, persistent unhealthy postures during work, inadequate micropauses between works and uncomfortable working atmosphere. Adequate physician patient ratio, restricting the patient load, providing good physician friendly working environment and adequate mandatory breaks might significantly reduce the incidence of these disorders and can prevent the sagging of health care delivery.","PeriodicalId":388163,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Physical Medicine Rehabilitation Studies & Reports","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123974759","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

So it has been of great importance to find out evidence based effective treatment of cervical radiculopathy along with conventional treatment. This study is designed to find out the combined effect of neural mobilization and intermittent traction on cervical radiculopathy Materials and methods: 30 patients were included in the study and randomly divided into two equal groups. In group A conventional physiotherapy treatment was given along with neural mobilization and in group B only conventional physiotherapy which include intermittent traction and isometric neck exercises treatment was given.NDI (Neck disability index) and VAS (Visual analogue scale) assessment was done on 2nd, 14th and 28th day of treatment. Results: There was improvement in symptoms in both the group but was more in group A. Conclusion: The study demonstrated that patients experiencing cervical radiculopathy can improve much earlier and more effectively after neural mobilization technique and therefore provides support to include this technique in conservative management methods of treating patients with cervical radiculopathy for better results.","PeriodicalId":388163,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Physical Medicine Rehabilitation Studies & Reports","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121714947","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

What about this result in Benin. Objective: To study hip forgetting after hip prosthesis in Benin. Methods: Prospective study with a descriptive and analytical aim carried out from February to October 2019. It focused on patients with prosthesis of a single hip for at least 3 months in hospitals in Cotonou and surroundings, without comprehension disorders or other pathologies causing locomotor system disability and who consented to participate in the study. The “Forgotten Joint Score -12” (FJS-12) and the “Hip disability and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score” (HOOS) were the tools to assess, respectively, the forgetfulness and functionality of the prosthetic hip of patients. Results: The mean age of patients was 52.90 ± 16.76 years. The sex ratio was 1.31. These were mainly cases of PTH (88.64%), first-line (86.36%). Only one patient between four had actually forgotten his hip. The latter was significantly associated mainly with the parameters of functional capacities of the hip. Conclusion: Hip forgetting still remains a major challenge in hip replacement patients in Benin. The role of functional rehabilitation in achieving this goal is legitimate, showing the need to collaborate between specialties in the care of these patients.","PeriodicalId":388163,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Physical Medicine Rehabilitation Studies & Reports","volume":"193 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116428749","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Effect of Muscle Energy Technique in Patients with Non-traumatic Lumbo-pelvic Pain in the Age Group of 30-40 Years","authors":"A. Suresh, Dimple Kashyap","doi":"10.47363/jpmrs/2021(3)132","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.47363/jpmrs/2021(3)132","url":null,"abstract":"Purpose: Pelvic girdle and low back pain have fallen under the diagnostic umbrella of non-specific low back pain (NSLBP). It is true that low back pain can have it’s etiology in pelvic girdle mal-alignment, and similarly low back pain with neural irritation can lead to in co-ordination of muscles causing pelvic malalignment, it is important to understand that motor in co-ordination in the pelvic girdle can be the result of peripheral and/or central mechanisms. Peripheral mechanisms include reflexogenic muscle spasms whilst central mechanisms include cortical inhibition of muscles and/or delayed central transmission due to noxious input affecting intra-cortical synergistic control between various regions of the central nervous system (CNS). Muscle energy technique (MET) is a common conservative treatment for pathology around the spine, particularly lumbopelvic pain (LPP). MET is a gentle manual therapy for restricted motion of the spine and extremities and is an active technique where the patient, not the clinician, controls the corrective force. MET of the low back has decreased pain, increased range of motion, decreased muscle tension and spasm, and increased strength when used with supervised neuromuscular re-education and resistance exercise training. At present, the treatment effect and the outcome of one or two MET session is undefined. This study is designed to determine the effectiveness of brief MET sessions on posterior innominate/ Pelvic pain when used on subjects with non-traumatic pelvic pain. Materials and method: 20 male patients of convenient random sampling based on the inclusion criteria were included in the study and were given muscle energy technique- anterior rotation of Innominate bone for single session once a day for two days and the pre and post treatment outcome were recorded using VAS score and Pelvic inclinometer (PALM) measure. Results: The pre and post treatment effects using paired t-test and the correlation on VAS, shows a decrease of mean and SD from baseline (4.7 ± 1.03) to (1.95 ± 1.14) with (t=14.457, p =.001) indicating a very high level of significance. The pre and post treatment effects using paired t-test and the correlation on PALM, shows a decrease of mean and SD from baseline (10.5 ± 1.50) to (7.1 ± 1.07) with (t=12.803, p =.004) indicating a high level of significance. Conclusion: The results showed that Muscle Energy Technique is as effective as any other manual therapy techniques in the treatment of lumbo-pelvic pain or posterior innominate considered in this study, suggests that MET was highly effective in managing pain and neutralising the pelvic rotation angles with LPP. The treatment is evidenced, and provided as much benefit as any other manual therapy techniques for LPP. Some objective outcomes showed a trend which suggested that there might have been a great interaction if the sample size was larger. Thus the conclusion from this research is that there was a high statistical significance between","PeriodicalId":388163,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Physical Medicine Rehabilitation Studies & Reports","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129396695","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
