Work-from-home during pandemic of COVID-19: an investigation study on managers in Indonesia
The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 forced organisations to change. To stop the outbreak, employees who work in offices turned to work-from-home. This study identifies the actual work-from-home conditions that managers are experiencing in Indonesia. One hundred and sixty managers from 74 companies in Indonesia who work-from-home during the pandemic were investigated in this qualitative analysis. Their condition while they are working from home was synthesised as the empirical findings. They indicate that working from home has the potential to change managers' productivity, professionalism level, and work quality. However, particular steps need to be taken to avoid negative impacts. Work and life integration is the key to working from home. The practical model of work-from-home is very useful for keeping professionalism, maintaining productivity, and optimising the performance of managers while working from home. It could be adapted by other countries that have a similar experience. Copyright © 2023 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.
