People of Color were authentic at the conference and did not fear judgment. The linguistic diversity allowed attendees to appreciate the richness and complexity of language, and culture in academic discourse. Hearing different accents, dialects, and forms of expression while discussing academic topics was both intellectually stimulating and affirming of the diverse experiences and identities of the attendees. As many noted, being in the presence of individuals who connected with their experiences on a personal level filled them with a sense of empowerment and pride. This conference was an incredible representation of the determination, respect, understanding, and sense of belonging often absent from academic spaces.
