Nonlinear Optical Imaging of Entangled Heterophase Polydomains in Ferroelectric BZT Films (Adv. Electron. Mater. 13/2025)

The image highlights azimuth- and polarization-resolved second harmonic generation (SHG) mapping of polymorphic nanodomains in strained Ba(Zr,Ti)O3 thin films. In article number 2500278, Yuhang Ren and co-workers report that epitaxial strain from LaAlO3 substrates breaks in-plane symmetry and induces anisotropic domain structures, enabling spatial identification of tetragonal and rhombohedral phases. This nonlinear optical approach reveals local strain fields critical to ferroelectric device performance.
