Late adolescents' involvement in SOGIE-based harassment: Considering sexual prejudice and gender typicality
The current retrospective study explored the moderating role of gender typicality and sexual prejudice in the victimization to perpetration pathway among adolescents experiencing sexual orientation and gender identity-based harassment (SOGIE-H). Late adolescents enrolled in a large university (N = 376; 251 girls, 123 boys; Modeage = 18, Mage = 18.67, SDage = 0.88) were surveyed on their sexual prejudice, felt gender typicality, and experiences with SOGIE-H as both a target and perpetrator in high school. Hierarchical multivariable logistic regressions revealed that individuals who experienced more SOGIE-H as a victim were also more likely to perpetrate SOGIE-H. For late adolescent boys, those who experienced more SOGIE-H as a target were especially likely to perpetrate SOGIE-H if they felt highly similar to other boys. In comparison, the association between victimization and the likelihood of perpetrating SOGIE-H did not depend on sexual prejudice and gender typicality for late adolescent girls.

The Journal of Applied Developmental Psychology focuses on two key concepts: human development, which refers to the psychological transformations and modifications that occur during the life cycle and influence an individual behavior within the social milieu; and application of knowledge, which is derived from investigating variables in the developmental process. Its contributions cover research that deals with traditional life span markets (age, social roles, biological status, environmental variables) and broadens the scopes of study to include variables that promote understanding of psychological processes and their onset and development within the life span. Most importantly.
