This study aims to analyze the main difficulties faced by higher education students in understanding and applying ABNT standards, as well as in academic work production. The research is based on a literature review, using a methodological approach to identify, analyze, and synthesize studies on these difficulties. The results reveal that lack of familiarity with ABNT standards, the complexity of the standards, and the scarcity of adequate guidance are challenges faced by students.
