Previous studies have indicated that the empirical analysis remains to be improved in terms of the relationship between housework and the development of primary and junior high school students. Based on data from the 2020 Monitoring of Students' Academic Quality in Basic Education in Jiangsu Province Study, this study investigates the influence of primary and secondary school students’ participation in housework on academic performance by using OLS regression and Coarsened Exact Matching (CEM). The results show that the current proportion of primary and junior high school students involved in housework is not high; however, participating in housework frequently will positively affect the academic performance of primary and junior high school students. Participation in housework in primary school has a greater positive impact on academic performance than that in junior high school. In addition, since excessive academic burden is the main factor hindering primary and junior high school students from being involved in housework, it is necessary to strengthen the publicity of education on hard-working spirit to help people know its importance. 摘要

目前,即使中国的教育政策越来越强调刻苦精神的教育作为实践教育的重要组成部分,但现实仍然远远不能令人满意,因为许多家长没有给孩子提供足够的做家务的机会。以往的研究表明,家务劳动与中小学生发展的关系的实证分析还有待完善。本研究基于《2020年江苏省基础教育学生学业质量监测研究》数据,运用OLS回归和粗化精确匹配(CEM)方法,考察了中小学生家务劳动参与对学业成绩的影响。结果表明,目前中小学生参与家务劳动的比例不高;而频繁参与家务劳动则会对中小学生的学习成绩产生积极影响。小学阶段参与家务劳动对学业成绩的正向影响大于初中阶段。此外,由于繁重的学业负担是阻碍中小学生参与家务劳动的主要因素,因此有必要加强勤奋精神教育的宣传,让人们知道勤奋精神的重要性。此外,我们建议减少家庭作业的负担,以促进学生更多元化的家务教育机会。
