Abstract

experiences before and during their course of study, relative to a comparison group of non-Haredi women. They find that Hasidic women have unique motivations for studying computer science and that social factors influencing their studies look very different than the sort of stereotypes and barriers that have limited participation of women in most other studies. Ultimately, this work highlights the importance of nuanced, culturally-rooted research in computing education.
