Abstract
Following a request from the European Commission, EFSA was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the feed additives guanidinoacetic acid (GAA) and a preparation of GAA (Creamino®) for chickens for fattening and reared for laying and breeding, weaned piglets and pigs for fattening for the renewal of their authorisation and their extension of use in feed for suckling pigs. The additives are already authorised for use in chickens for fattening and reared for laying and breeding, weaned piglets and pigs for fattening. The FEEDAP Panel concludes that the additives remain safe for the target species, consumers and environment and that the extension of the use to suckling piglets would not affect these conclusions. Regarding user safety, the additives were not considered irritant to skin or eyes and were not considered a potential skin sensitiser. There is no need for assessing the efficacy of the additives in the context of the renewal of the authorisation for chickens for fattening, chickens reared for laying and breeding, weaned piglets and pigs for fattening. The Panel concludes that the additives are efficacious in feed for suckling piglets at 600 mg/kg complete feed.
