Abstract

Brains synchronize interpersonally during social interaction, yet the term 'synchrony' is often used to describe phenomena with different origins and functional implications. In this article, we briefly synthesize and organize these phenomena according to their signal and coupling properties, highlighting the value of disambiguation for reproducibility, theoretical clarity, and translational impact.
