Abstract

Atomic Control of Magnetic Skyrmions

If we could control exchange interactions at the atomic scale—those that govern the emergence of magnetic skyrmions—we could stabilize these topological phases under targeted conditions and reshape the future of electronics. In their Research Article e00622, Thao T. Tran and co-workers establish a compelling framework that connects electronic structure and atomic-level control of exchange interactions to the formation of skyrmions.
