Abstract

This article proposes a new double-sided excited permanent magnet arc motor with a parallel complementary effect (PCE-PMAM) used in electromagnetic launch systems. The PCE-PMAM is featured by parallel complementary design (PCD) and bidirectional flux modulation effect (BFME). Based on PCD and BFME, the proposed PCE-PMAM has the advantages of high average torque and low torque ripple.
