However, there are differences in how nurses perceive and engage in CPD. Abstract

Background: Continuing professional development (CPD) is a type of lifelong learning and a means of gaining career security and personal development and assuring the public that professional knowledge is up-to-date. This study assessed Jordanian nurses' perceptions of the importance of CPD, their motives for obtaining CPD, and barriers to receiving CPD.

Method: A descriptive cross-sectional design was used. Data collected included demographic information and responses to a questionnaire about CPD for nurses.
