When non-standard YUV images are processed by JPEG-XR encoder and decoder, the image viewers cannot display proper images. Based on the simulation results obtained from this study, we show that the proposed approach can overcome the limitation and enable proper images being viewed. Abstract

JPEG XR is a new still-image compression standard projected as the successor of the popular JPEG standard. JPEG-XR surely has several advantages over JPEG in terms of higher dynamic range, image tiling capability and higher compression ratios.
