Balloon-Assisted Retrieval of a Retained Vascular Sheath during Complex Inferior Vena Cava Filter Removal.
A potential complication of complex endovascular procedures is retained foreign bodies such as fragmented catheters, wires, stents, or sheaths in the intravascular space. Different techniques are available for retrieval of intravascular foreign bodies including snares, forceps, baskets, tip-deflecting wires, and balloon catheters. The aim of this article is to describe our experience in which a lost large intravascular sheath was retrieved using balloon assistance. We also provide a review of different techniques used for intravascular large sheath retrieval and methods to avoid this complication during endovascular procedures such as complex inferior vena cava filter removal.
期刊介绍:
Seminars in Interventional Radiology is a review journal that publishes topic-specific issues in the field of radiology and related sub-specialties.
The journal provides comprehensive coverage of areas such as cardio-vascular imaging, oncologic interventional radiology, abdominal interventional radiology, ultrasound, MRI imaging, sonography, pediatric radiology, musculoskeletal radiology, metallic stents, renal intervention, angiography, neurointerventions, and CT fluoroscopy along with other areas.
The journal''s content is suitable for both the practicing radiologist as well as residents in training.
