A cross-sectional study was conducted in nine from twelve Slovenian hospitals. Descriptive statistics and multivariate regression analysis were used. According to a qualitative study, semi-structured interviews were used. The content analysis gave six main categories: Leadership style; Leaders' personal qualities; Leaders' knowledge and skills; Stress; Patients; Organization; that is important for employees' well-being in nursing. It was revealed that 93 % of employees' well-being in nursing could be predicted with leadership style, leaders' knowledge and skills, leaders' personal qualities, frequency of workplace stress, stress management working experiences, and education level.
