5-Hydroxymaltol and mycophenolic acid, secondary metabolites from Penicillium echinulatum
Culture filtrates of Penicillium echinulatum contain a complex mixture of secondary metabolites. Among them, 5-hydroxymaltol and mycophenolic acid have been isolated. This is the first report of the former from fungi, and of the latter from Penicillium echinulatum.
