A RELAÇÃO ENTRE A ARQUITETURA GÓTICA E A RELIGIOSIDADE MEDIEVAL

The article in question aims to discuss and analyze the importance of Gothic architecture as a symbol of a religious revolution, seeking to understand its representation in the history of the medieval West with greater proportions and meanings, ranging from the revolution in the way of building the churches to the change of the mentality of medieval society through the transmission of a philosophical message, propagated by gothic architectural style. Its appearance, therefore, is closely associated with the development of cities in the period of the Early Middle Ages. Based on concepts already established by theorists such as Marchi, Brandão, Panofsky, Freitas, among others, the issues that influenced the scenario of changes and the transformations that occurred during the study period were addressed, the relationship between the development of Gothic architecture and the emergence of scholastic philosophy was presented, as well as this new way of constructing, arising between the 12th and 13th centuries, as a sign of this and other relationships, and as a factor of preservation of memory and record of the spirit of a period of transition of mentalities.
