Desain penelitian ini adalah quasi experimental design dengan pola nonequivalent control group design. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengukur kemampuan memecahkan masalah adalah lembar observasi kemampuan memecahkan masalah dan soal uraian untuk mengukur hasil belajar kognitif . Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata kemampuan memecahkan masalah dan hasil belajar siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran group investigation melalui strategi problem based learning lebih besar daripada siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran group investigation, dilihat dari untuk kemampuan memecahkan masalah dan untuk hasil belajar kognitif. Kemampuan memecahkan masalah dan hasil belajar siswa dengan model pembelajaran group investigation melalui strategi problem based learning lebih besar daripada siswa yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran group investigation. The purpose of this research were to know problem solving ability and learning outcomes of students who use the group investigation model of learning through problem based learning strategies than students who use learning model group investigation. The research design was a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group design. The instrument used to measure the problem solving ability is the observation sheet problem-solving ability and problem descriptions to measure cognitive learning outcomes. The results showed that the average problem-solving ability and learning outcomes of students who use the group investigation model of learning through problem based learning strategies more than students who use learning model group investigation, seen from tcal= 1.86 > ttable = 1.66 for problem-solving ability and tcal = 1.86> ttable = 1.66 for cognitive learning outcomes.
