This article aims at finding out the correlation between the two variables, which are school’s appreciation for teachers and its impact to their competency. This research was conducted in Pidie District, Aceh with the total sample of 92 English teachers (SMA and SMK), both civil servants and non-civil servants. The research design applied in this study was qualitative descriptive research. In order to obtain the data, the questionnaire that was adapted from TALIS (Teaching and Learning International Survey) by OECD (The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) was used as the instrument. In analyzing the data, the statistical calculation of Pearson’s Correlation was used to find out the correlation between school’s appreciation for teachers and its impact to their competency. 摘要

教师的欣赏是影响教师胜任能力的重要因素之一。本文旨在找出学校对教师的欣赏程度及其对教师胜任力的影响这两个变量之间的相关性。本研究在亚齐Pidie区进行,共抽样92名英语教师(SMA和SMK),包括公务员和非公务员。本研究采用定性描述性研究设计。为了获得数据,使用了经合组织(经济合作与发展组织)改编自TALIS(教学与学习国际调查)的问卷作为工具。在对数据进行分析时,运用Pearson相关的统计计算,找出学校对教师的赞赏程度与其对教师胜任力的影响之间的相关关系。从研究结果来看,教师欣赏与教师胜任之间存在显著正相关关系(r=.64)。
