The study has proven that improvement in the information exchange between the Producer and the Supplier of raw materials brings business-related benefits. The example shown concerns the reduction of stock of a selected material, replenished as part of a system based on the reorder point. The automation of activities related to information processing has shortened the duration of certain stages of stock replenishment, which, on the basis of basic dependencies within the replenishment system, has allowed reducing the safety stock kept to ensure production continuity in conditions of uncertain demand. It was possible to introduce changes in the replenishment process (both on the Producer’s and the Supplier’s part) owing to a profound analysis of the process itself.
