We as physicians\nhave never, however, been trained how to train\ntrainees, even though adult education is a continuously\ndeveloping science as well. This science\noffers to trainers more efficient tools to teach, appraise\nand assess trainees in a rather short time\navailable. We owe it to ourselves and medicine to\ntrain new specialists in such a way that they will\nbe competent in their specialities. As trainers we\ncan positively contribute to higher self-reflection\nand responsibility of trainees with introductory\nappraisal–it is so nice when mentor knows the\nCV of the trainee in advance–and with repeating\nthe appraisal in regular intervals. The importance\nof solid basic knowledge and continuous\nassessment of theoretical knowledge, practical\nskills and, above all, of attitude and behaviour\nis stressed. The first audit cycle of Training the\ntrainers workshops will not be completed until\nafter some years. have never, however, been trained how to train
trainees, even though adult education is a continuously
developing science as well. This science
offers to trainers more efficient tools to teach, appraise
and assess trainees in a rather short time
