Objectives: 1. Exploring the perception of nursing students about the role-play method. 2. Surveying satisfaction of nursing students about role-play method. Methodology: A descriptive cross-sectional study, combining quantitative and qualitative on 156 2nd nursing students at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Assessing perception of role-play by 20 questions on a 5-point Likert scale and in-depth interview to find out student’s awareness; Satisfaction of role-play was assessed by the Learning Satisfaction scale consisting of 9 questions on a 5-point Likert scale. Results: Most students had a positive perception of the role-play method, accounting for 85.9%; increasing effective learning, helping self-development, and enhancing connection are the points that students like the most from this method. Besides that, internal factors from students and external factors from situations and scenarios of lessons are obstacles that students face with the role-play method. Students are quite satisfied with the role-play method, reaching 3.5 ± 0.5 points, which students are satisfied because this subject is effective in acquiring communication skills, reaching the highest level (3.7 ± 0.6 points). Conclusion: Students had a positive perception and were quite satisfied with the role-play method.
