This research was conducted with the aim of investigating the effectiveness of the Problem-Based Learning model assisted by ethnoscience worksheets on the critical thinking abilities of science in fifth-grade Elementary School students. This study used a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design. The research subjects were selected, namely fifth-grade students at Kauman 2 Elementary School as the experimental class and fifth-grade students at Sukosari 1 Elementary School as the control class. Data were analyzed using t-test and N-gain on SPSS 25 for Windows. The results showed: (1) there was a significant difference between students' scores before and after the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning model assisted by ethnoscience worksheets in studying the water cycle (p=0.000, p<0.05). (2) Learning by applying the Problem-Based Learning model assisted by ethnoscience worksheets is proven to be more effective than applying conventional models assisted by textbooks to improve critical thinking abilities in science (N-gain 0.66).
