Studio clinico prospettico sul grande rialzo del pavimento del seno mascellare con l’utilizzo di impianti a connessione conometrica
Objectives
The present paper examines the surgical procedure known as sinus lifting. The first part provides a description of the procedure itself, and the second part presents the results obtained in 83 patients.
Materials and methods
The authors describe the maxillary sinus lift procedure with emphasis on the surgical technique they use. They discuss the indications and contraindications for this procedure as well as the anatomical and pathophysiological variables that can influence the outcome in terms of bone gain and implant-prosthesis survival. In the experimental part of the article, the authors describe the methods used and the results obtained in 83 patients who received implants (using conical implant-abutment connections [n = 256]) associated with sinus lifting procedures (n = 106) between 2004 and 2008.
Results and conclusions
Clinical and radiological findings following sinus lifting revealed a high rate of success (over 95%). As for implant survival, the results were quite positive with success rates of over 97% before loading and almost 96% after 30 months of loading. Crestal bone loss was minimal (0.6 mm after 30 months of loading).
