Diagnostic échodoppler des cardiopathies congénitales
Echocardiography associated with pulsed-wave, continuous-wave and color flow Doppler modes allows precise and non-invasive analysis of congenital heart diseases. Any examination should include the anatomic description of the congenital defect using two-dimensional echo (direct sign), assessment of its consequences on heart dimensions and function using two-dimensional and M-mode echo (indirect signs), identification of abnormal flows using color-coded and pulsed-wave Doppler modes, and last, quantification of turbulent high-velocity flows using continuous-wave Doppler mode. Main echo-Doppler alterations associated with congenital arterial and atrio-ventricular abnormalities, interventricular and interatrial septal defects, patent ductus arteriosus, and complex malformations are described in this paper.
