Maladies du bas appareil urinaire du chat

In cats, diseases of the low urinary tract (LUT) are at the origin of a relatively homogeneous but multiple-cause clinical syndrome that requires a systematic diagnostic approach, allowing the instauration of targeted therapeutic strategy. According to etiologic data, there is not only one cause responsible for these diseases; many causes are involved among which idiopathic cystitis is the principal. Recently, a new syndrome so called “interstitial cystitis” has been identified. Following the description of major clinical expressions of LUT diseases, therapeutic and prophylactic management of main identified causes of this syndrome are considered. A specific analysis of the interstitial cystitis is presented.
