Similarly to all professionals who utilise electric generators producing ionizing radiations, the veterinary surgeon is subject to obligations aimed at ensuring the protection of the public and his personnel. Ionising radiations can have serious consequences on the health of people in contact. The practitioner should not ignore regulatory texts on such protection, and it is his responsibility to undertake some actions related to the radiological equipment and premises installation. He must obtain an authorization for radiography equipment, and verify the conformity of the device and all related radiological installations. Radiation sources, ambiance and premises must be controlled in terms of risk assessment and limitation. The radioprotection of the personnel in a private veterinary clinic begins, according to regulatory texts, by the designation of a person with specific radioprotection competence. This person, adequately trained in accordance with current regulation, must ensure the compliance with the protection recommendations, organize the follow-up of the personnel, and implement those means necessary to protect employees and visitors from the radiations.
